New 2017 CX-5 Revealed

In case it's important to you, from the pics I've seen it doesn't look like the 2017 entertainment system (at least in the US model) has a CD player.
That Japanese video did show a CD player, but the other pics I've seen of the 2017 clearly doesn't have one. Maybe it's an option, but from the way the dash is now designed it doesn't look like it to me. I guess we'll know for sure in a few more weeks.

I agree with you! Based on the history that how the Mazda North American Operations were configuring US version CX-5, and the pictures from Mazda USA website showing nothing of a CD slot like the Japanese model, I declare we won't get the CD player here in the US!

red looks absolutely gorgeous at night...

heads up display now an option for the CX-5, interior is starting to grow on me just my 2 cents,

there's a button for steering wheel heater

that white interior looks really nice but very hard to keep it that clean, looks luxurious, looks like a smaller veriosn of new CX-9

a pair of LED array bars next to each side of the fog lights would complete the look I think

USA front side markers won't look as nice though, outdated regulations requires mandatory amber light/reflectors

Nice. Thanks for posting.

No LED array bars, please. I think the current CX5 has the nicest looking LED DRLs. You can't see each individual LED like on the Rogue (hideous). And so many others. I hate those type.

I use my CD slot for my phone mount ... haven't played CDs in a car for many years now, except for music files ripped from (old) CDs, usually through a USB drive.

I really like the current LED setup on the CX-5

Not all LED setups are hideous. :D

BMW, the one that started it all, has unquestionably the best looking setup.

Rear seat back recline has been available on many other compact CUVs too even my 1998 Honda CR-V has it. Not like the front seat back it's has very limited reclining angle so it's doable.

Funny, my 2004 CR-V did not have rear seat recline.

When I was looking at the CX-5, I looked at a Outback - mainly because the manual trans and AWD system - and they had great rear reclining seats. Basically folded flat.

I think the BMW looks dated now, lots of cars now have more interesting designs, including Mazda.

The facelifted f32/82 headlights have been updated to address that. Turn signals are strips in the "eyebrows" starting this spring

I really liked the white interior on the CX-3 but didnt choose it on the CX-5 because it didnt have the black suede inserts. Now I wish Id had it because knowing they needed regular cleaning, these black seats MUST be dirty but I simply cant see it. My next CX-5 will have the white interior!

I'm scared to get white. I think the lightest I'd go is "saddle brown"

I don't think it's dated, at all. Class leader still, imo.
They aren't blindingly bright, muted. They don't turn off when you use the turn signals because they're too bright (looking at you Audi, Nissan).
I think very few companies do it well.

Not only the rear seats on my 1998 Honda CR-V EX can recline, but they can recline totally flat with totally flat reclined front seats which becomes a large cushioned bed! Our CX-5 simply can't do this, and the front seats can only be reclined to a certain angle, pass that you feel very uncomfortable!

Those were the best versions of the CR-V. I had the version that was basically a glass box.

people hating on the reclining seats, just like hating on the power lift gate. you first gen cx5 owners are some of the most biased.

i bet if they announce android auto and apple car play standard on the 2017 but wont be upgadeable for the 2016 and below you guys would hate on that too.

come on now. reclining rear seats are very useful even if only slight adjustment. especially if you are regularly doing road trips with people in the back. and it better have reclining rear seats this year AND air vents because those are what either makes or breaks someone purchasing this or the competition. In which case the newest redesigned 2017 CRV. standard rear vents, recline rear seats, AND 2.5amp dual USB plugs in the back.

let me guess from you first gen cx5 owners--"mehhhhhh who needs air vents in the back or usb ports" and the numerous attempts on why power lift gate isn't important LOL. that was hilarious. i think many are in denial that your model that has remained unchanged for so many years will indeed be outdated and old in terms of styling and features. i mean ive read some ridiculous reasoning from you 1st gen cx5 owners. trying to find justification on why all the new features that will be appearing on the 2017 is something yall can live without. whats next, come 2018, you guys will try to persuade would be buyers of the then current cx5, to go ahead an buy the first gen cx5 2016.5 and older because who needs power lift gate, air vents, reclining rear seats, possibly android auto/apple car, play, etc? thats how some of you guys are sounding.

perhaps its many who just bought a 2016 or 2016.5 without any knowledge until recently that their brand new car will instantly be old not een a few months? it happens. but there is no sense in trying to discredit an upcoming car that is likely to be improved and better in everyway by hating on features that are or will become standardized features from here on out for mazda and practically EVERY other car maker. Oh do you refuse to upgrade your 4:3 36" picture tube tv because you swear its better than the latest hdtv smart TVs--yea drastic but you know what I'm trying to say.

The LAST time I can really think of a vehicle become inferior as it got newer was the mitsubishi eclipse. frm 90-99 it was offered in turbo, AWD, some with 4WS. then from 2000+ they just ruined that car with horrible engines and strictly being FWD. Mazda is not making that mistake.

at least you still have the argument of "it uses the same 2.5L as mine, no need to buy the new one"

Did you really need to quote his entire post to post a pic? Lol

I certainly don't hate the new CX5. If I was buying in June, I'm quite sure it would be my pick. I was quite annoyed that mine doesn't have rear vents. My last 3 cars have had them. I may regret not having them come summer.
Although, power lift gate? I really am anti that feature.
And the reclining seats? They are, without question, useless in the Jeep Cherokee. I really thought I wanted those those for my son...until I actually tried them. I'm telling you...they are laughable.
Now these CRV ones that go way back? That's nice.
What kind will the 5 get?

Maybe I missed a few posts but I don't see anyone really hating on it.
Lastly, GM ruined the Saab 9-3 in 2004 by dropping the hatchback.
The new 9-3 was a great car, but it was such a redesign it alienated a lot of people. It should have gotten a name change. 9-4?

I've had the reclining rear seats on an xtrail, never use it or the rear vents.

More useful for my use would be a sliding rear seat, it give the option of more boot or more cabin space.
