Psh Hulu+ isn't needed. Free Hulu, Netflix (3 DVD plan) and Amazon Prime gives me more than I could ever possibly watch

I've been without cable since I bought my condo 4.5 years ago

And as soon as "free" Hulu and Amazon Prime get native ChromeCast functionality, I'll have a nerd-boner. We're also cable free, and use Amazon Prime and "free" Hulu. The Hulu+ phone app already has the functionality, so hopefully it's just a matter of time. Sadly, you can't watch any of the free stuff on the app without an account.

G'day all!

I really need to look into this Hulu and Netflix thing. I've heard plenty about it but never researched it too much. Just have to make sure I have access to ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, AMC, SyFy, USA, FX and Showtime (gotta get that Ray Donovan fix) to name a few. With the Fall season approaching my Tivo box is in for a workout. I know most of these can be accessed online but sometimes I hate having to wait a week before the new episode is released. Then again since my cable bill just jumped $10 to $197 a month....

Netflix streaming is good if you are way behind on TV shows. If you are relatively up to date there isn't as much to watch. The movie selection is pretty craptastic. I'd say its only marginally better than what you see on Comcast free OnDemand. The DVDs to your mailbox is still decent though and it saves driving to a Redbox. However you have to really be on top of new releases to get them. They don't show up under new releases for months. I've been checking Redbox for popular shows then searching Netflix to add them to my queue. It's stupid, I know, but Netflix likes to hide them among not-so-popular releases.

We still have Comcast cable and watch 2-3 hours of DVR'd shows from various channels most week nights. The list of shows we watch is pretty large. I'm sure a good portion is available on Hulu but I doubt all of them are. We also watch local sporting events, auto racing, and other stuff that I'm pretty sure isn't on Hulu. So I know it is expensive, but we use it and get the most out of it by fast forwarding all commercials. ...we do not, however, watch the news.

That is very similiar to our situation. On any given night of the week we are Tivoing two to six shows a night and try to stay current with them through out the week. Have to love watching NO commercials! :) And no news watching here either, too damn depressing.

Good lookin' out Mahk! Seems like a decent price at that mileage and in good shape. Never like when they don't have pics of the top up though, makes ya wonder.... Has an R-lip or replica at least which I like but the wheels, style bar and that tombstone would have to go. Rad looks a bit on the green side too so would look into replacing that. First things fist though I've got to get more seat time in a manual so I can feel comfortable taking one on a test drive.

Found a nice '91 BRG out in Washington State with 20K miles and a hardtop but auto (on the plus side I could fly out today and make the 2800 mile trip home). Last time I saw the auction on Ebay it was at $1300 but according to the dealer's site they want $9,995. I add movies to my queue as soon as I hear about them or see commercials about them. I have plenty of stuff in my queue already that isn't even out in theaters. Then whenever the DVD does actually come out I don't have to think about it, it just works its way through the queue. I currently have 60 things in my "Not yet released" section.

pretty much.. again, it's the main reason that I don't miss cable. I got rid of it when I got laid off back in FEB, and I haven't thought about turning it back on even once since I started working again in June. Netflix and Hulu+ are all I need, and they only cost me a combined $15 a month as opposed to $140.

no complaints here!

I have Netflix, and just signed up for Hulu. We don't pay for TV here, but we do pay $40 a year for unlimited VPN via Tunnelbear so we can actually use Netflix and Hulu (and I often have Pandora on all day).

Everything goes through my desktop PC which is connected to the TV so it acts as the media server. For things that aren't on those two, I use a site that streams live TV from various channels in different countries (since I watch a number of things on BBC in England). http://www.myiplayer.eu/home.php is the link.

The only thing I haven't figured out how to do is stream NESN so I can watch the hockey games in the morning.

Since we've been RVing, tv watching is a mixed bag. In Canada we rely on OTA signals. We don't pickup a lot of channels, 6 or so, but since we work I don't have much time to watch TV. Campground WiFi is too slow for streaming. For Movies we use Redbox. In the US, most places have cable so I get to watch more TV then and have used Hulu and Amazon at times along with RedBox.

Looks pretty nice. Trying to drive Jeff crazy??

Mary was sick on Weds and stayed home from work. She felt better on Thursday. Spent the morning installing a bristle mud flap on the rear bumper to protect Mia in transit.

Hulu+ covers most of the network shows except for CBS. I take care of the CBS stuff with my PLEX server.

Primewire.ag

This is what we used to watch the new South Park and some old In Living Color at the house in Lime Rock.

Pretty cool.

More work on the rig, a brass connector for the portable BBQ cracked and was leaking, go that replaced. Waiting to see if they will warranty it. Also sanitized the fresh water tank and dumped the other 2.

Saw Gravity in 3D yesterday with my brother. Was very cool.

no mazda love this weekend...a friends son got married and we did a reception in the backyard yesterday...like a 13 hr day...resting today! rained most of the day anyway. back to the rock pile tomorrow

Yo! How was everyone's weekend?

Several of us Meeps (and those we let associate with us) went to a huge car meet on Sunday. Well over 1000 cars of all shapes, sizes, colors, and manufacturers. Good times had by all until a bunch of dumbass kids ruined it. Ooooh well. These things happen all too often I guess.

ok weekend. wanted to get more done, but crap happens.

I'm likely going to do some electrical work in the garage tonight in preparation for the garage door/opener install on Friday.

Busy weekend. Worked on the rig Saturday, Sunday had brunch with Mary's cousins and watched the Pats lose in the PM. Had ribs for dinner and packed up the rig.

Hit the road this morning for my parents. Looking after dad till Thursday and then Thanksgiving with the whole family.

Drinking Gin right now, yeah!!!
