NEMOC Random BS Thread

Can't this week. I'm in the office today but I'll be home tomorrow because of the storm. Thursday I'm flying out to Utah for some skiing.

I've still got the REPU bug so I emailed a guy that is selling a pristine truck in California. Frame off restoration with $25k invested. Brand new 13b 4-port motor (not rebuilt...actually brand new) with only 500 miles on it. Fresh chrome on every nut and bolt. Interior done up nice. Exterior painted red/orange. He's looking to get 16-18k for it. Sounds like a good deal...but.... I'd just be the keeper of the flame. It basically needs nothing so I could drive it to shows and stuff but its not like I would be showcasing any of my hard work. I've been going back and forth with him and he's got a lot of NOS (new old stock) parts on it including a entirely new bed. That's the kind of investment that truck in CT needs...along with a 13b 4-port engine that are virtually impossible to find. It's kind of like buying a puzzle for $5 or buying a framed poster of the same photo for $20. They both have the same end result, but you can at least point at the puzzle and say "i made that". What to do?

You should check out the one in Lancaster PA. It pops up on Craigslist from time to time.

There is an all-original in FL too. Guy wants $32k for it and its an autotragic. What color is the PA one? I may have seen an expired ad. Edit...I did, but it was from 2008 and the condition sounded on par with the CT one.

Orange, and it looked pretty nice last I saw it.

Interesting. The one in California is Orange...but it has never been to PA.

Here are some photos...

Ok, not that nice. LOL. But it looks like it's worth the asking price ($4k)

That is a nice looking truck Chris!

Well, the commute to work should be loads of fun tomorrow. Supposed to be a wintry mix of snow/sleet until sometime tomorrow afternoon when it changes to rain. I don't mind driving in the stuff, I just don't like how some of the other drivers drive it it. lol

ya, you don't need no stinking accidents!

Morning folks. Wanted to drive the Bavaria today, but noooo. Stupid rain.

Hahah, no... but I don't have the heater squared away so it would have fogged up like a mofo inside. Not something I really want to deal with. Haha.

You can say that again. Well, what do you know the weather man was wrong. Woke up this morning and it was bone dry. Rain started here around 10ish and it's def. colder than it has been the last few days. Thinking we won't get any of the white stuff. :(

Drive with the windows down? Don't laugh, I did it once but while driving home from work while it was freezing rain. Had to stop four times along the shoulder to scrape the windshield.

Yeah... but not driving it is cheaper and easier. Civic = 28 mpg avg. Bavaria = 16.5 avg

Ahhh, so it's your 'sunday car'. lol I hear ya man....with gas prices where they are I'd be driving the Civic too!

Oh I drive it a lot. Once summer hits, I'll probably have it out 3 days a week or so. Bummer is that Ohio's Historic plates limit you on when you can drive the car.

I made a few phone calls about financing for the truck. NADA top value is only $4,200. I looked up similar vintage trucks and they top out at $12-25,000. I'm not sure why NADA is so low for a vehicle that needs restoration to be in perfect condition. It just doesn't match up. All the Mazdas value low. All I know is that I'll have to get an appraisal for both financing and insurance because of this. ...but if I wanted a '69 Chevelle like every other guy at a classic car show, I could get financing up to $100k without an issue.
