NEMOC Random BS Thread

ha thanks but after 6 hours of work I begged my dad to leave it in the garage! Watch a bird will have flown in the garage.

Or worse....I watched as a bird flew over my P5 and drop a rock almost dead center onto my hood. True story...ask Dan.

Man I know that feeling. My last big detail was our black Acura CL. I spent a total of 12 hours combined into 2 days.

All PoorBoys products. SSR1, SSR2.5, EX-P, and Natty's Paste Wax (blue).

Process:
1. Wash
2. Dry
3. Claybar
4. Rinse
5. Dry again plus forced air to remove any excess water
6. Tape all moldings, plastic, etc.
7. PB SSR2.5 with cutting pad
8. Wipe off
9. PB SSR1 with light cutting pad
10. Wipe off
11. PB EX-P by hand
12. Wipe off
13. Natty's Paste Wax by hand
14. Wipe off

Detailing the P5 tonight. Washed & clayed. Polished the roof and the front left fender, but no motivation to polish the rest. The doors could definitely use a pass. Going to just top it off with wax (which it super sorely needs) and that's the end of that story.

Oh yeah, I finally replaced the snapped bracket. Because I decided to drill the holes in the MSP to be closer to the OEM P5 bracket, similar to what Bruce had already done, I replaced only one bracket. I was too lazy to drill the other new bracket. So when the other old one goes, I'll just get the job done again.

I did forget a wrench in the subframe and almost drove off with it inside:

Anyone doing something on the 4th of July that I can join in on? All my friends are leaving town... (sad2)

If anyone is interested they are having a HUGE 4th of July thing on base that is open to the public. Last year's was nice and including one hell of a fireworks show.

This is one of the few times that the base is open to the public.

So... this was spotted at our local meet tonight. We had a good Mazda turn out...

I felt it was rather epic.

heading to CT for a couple of days...gonna attempt to work on the car a bit, and work on the vette.

If anyone has some leftover 17" tires lemme know...I wanna put my rims back on but the wheel I got from Lime Rock has more tread...

Was going to the Travelers Open yesterday and got of 84 in Vernon/manchester onto route 83 around 9:50 AM (exit 65 or 64) and saw a blue (looked like) Mazdaspeed Protege with black rims (polished lip) at the light to my left? looked like tinted windows, too!

anyone one from here?

Had an awesome time at the Lenox 301 in Louden yesterday. Our seats were right on turn 1 where the big crash happened (no one was hurt) and there were a few other spin outs in that area as well.

We ducked out at lap 250 and it started drizzling as we were walking back to the car. As soon as we pulled out of our lot it started pooring. they called the race after lap 267 but by that time we were home free heading down route 106 and were eating dinner in Manchester while some people still had another 5 hours of traffic to sit in getting out of the place.

Now i thought the vintage F1 cars at Limerock were loud this year...they had nothing on NASCAR. I'm glad we brought ear protection. It was really F'n loud. We felt a little out of place not having a matching hat, t-shirt, key chain, and cooler for our favorite driver...but oh well, maybe next year.

Way back when in the early 90's my dad had connections at chevy motorsports, he worked in GM quality control. We got hot pit passes at the Pocono races every year. You want to talk loud, try standing on pit lane when the green flag drops on that track. Take a deep breath and hold it as they go by, your lungs start vibrating from the low frequency vibrations. Crazy stuff. Open exhaust w/ headers pointed to infield = sonic weaponry, LOL.

Even with earplugs, my hearing wouldn't be right for 3-4 days afterward.

Let me take you back to 1985. I was 13 then and my uncle knew the owners of a small electronics company called SOUNDESIGN. We had pit crew access at the Meadowlands in NJ. Here's a few ol' pics I took.

Small world. Used to go to the meadowlands events all the time too. Back when US open wheel racing was worth watching. Tried to watch the indy race sat night, was painfully boring. Wrong type of track for those cars/rules.
