03 spicy orange MSP
Hello everyone, I am trying to tune my car, #1312 spicy orange, I am using splitsecond R-4 programmer....It seems no matter where I move the number in my fuel map I get a cutting out, jerking out of my car as soon as it starts to boost...I have tryed calling split second but they just give me a base map and there info just isn't that helpful....If anyone could help me out here I would greatly appreciate it....I am at the point of giving up on the car and letting it go, I love my car but if I can't drive it then why have it...So please help!!!! THANKS

yea Its installed right.....everything is working on it, I can read the data, record the data, watch the cells move....it's just I have adjusted up and down on fuel and I get no real change....It's always the same response....If my O2 was bad would it throw everything off? I don't have an O2 code or anything, and from how I understand with programming the ECU it's tricking it to put what ever fuel you set it up to do....I'm new to programming so i am still trying to grasp the understanding of it all

Why don't you try some of the maps that are in the library and using them as a base and then make adjustments.

Was it doing this prior to the SSAFC install?

I have tryed to get some of those maps but it doesn't let me download them

Strange, I have downloaded them and used them as a base, let me know which one you are interested in and I will get them for you.

perro del sol, I figured out how to get them downloaded, thanks, I'll give it a try after work....prefario, the system was installed when I got the car, the car was blown when I got it so after I rebuilt it I had the problem, I turned the boost way up (25 psi) and blew the engine, got the second engine done with boost turned down to 10 psi and still have the problem

Holy s***! You turned the boost to 25psi on stock internals?!?!?

yea 25 psi on stock internals....zoom zoom went boom boom within 1/4 mile.....but it was fun.....I have H beam rods and peuter pistons with forged crank now....but still want to run low boost.....Jspeed, I increased the fuel on a map by alot and still same problem...i'm thinking possible coils??

I don't think it's boost leak cause the BOV turkey's on low boost and with a leak it wouldn't do that

I have not had the AFC in many years but I do remember that there is a setting somewhere in the software for when it actually starts to make changes of the stock signals. For a while i could not figure out why not matter what map I had loaded no changes were actually being made.

then I realized the unit was set to 18psi or something rediculous like that so no signal mods were happening below 18psi kinda thing.

its been years and my memory is a bit foggy, but I would look into that first. someone who uses split second currently could probably show you in 1 minute where the setting i am talking about is.

also, are you sure you have a MSP specific AFC because I remember some controversy of the "Universal" one that looks the exact same not working properly on our cars.

The unit was installed in the car when I bought it so i'm not sure if it's MSP specific or not.....but I will look into the settings to see on that side, if i'm correct would it be the "over pressure" setting? and if so that should be set at 1 correct? let me know if that rings a bell

The SSAFC is hard to setup and the R4 software is complicated but it's not impossible. When you download the tune and open it with the R4 software do you see the different numbers show on the fuel map spreadsheet? Did you click the button to flash the current tune onto the AFC?

Yea I have figured out how to use the software and know how to flash the ECM.....I get a reading from the spreadsheet while running so it's hooked up and If I pull from the ECM and flash a differant tune it changes so the ECM is getting flashed.....It could be a problem with sensors now that I have done more research using Mitchells.....I am going to check MAF secsor, TP sensor, Intake air temp sensor and VICS solenoid valve this weekend...from what my car is acting like, all of those play a role in the way it's acting so we will see what happens, and I will update with anything I find out
