need help!!!!!!

can some one show me how to take the motor in the 95 mazda protoge out, without taking the transmission with the motor...please help me...any help will be apprieciate..

It's actually easier when you just need to take off the transmission and want to leave the engine in. You're doing the opposite. It's arranged where the engine sits in the engine bay and then the transmission to the engine. Yes, the tranny also sits connected to the engine bay but not as much. No one here is going to go step by step and detail by detail because there are WAY too many steps in the process. I recommend you buy three manuals. One will be the Haynes manual, the Chilton manual and the Mazda dealership's version of the manual. The first two you can buy at auto parts stores but the latter should be bought used because it's too expensive at the dealership. Everyone is going to recommend you remove both and separate them while out of the car. You then connect the good engine to the tranny and put both back up. Does anyone know if there's a How-To on this? I haven't checked.

thanx alots guys...wow i ddint know take out the engine is this hard.

Yes, take out the engine is that hard. As a matter of fact, I currently have a 95 Altima body in good condition with a bad engine and a 95 Altima with a bad body and good engine. I have decided I will have the swap done instead of doing it myself just because of hearing what 98b/w pro and others have said about the swaps. I know people come on the boards, sometimes, to say that it wasn't all that hard. I know better what they mean by not being that hard. It means it was still hard. I can do it but I know the kinds of problems I will encounter from doing other jobs and the time I don't have to do it quickly. I have lowered a tranny and put it back up to replace a clutch but it was a rear-drive car. That's a much easier task and was still tiresome and time consuming. If you have the time and facilities(as in the place & correct tools), I recommend you do it because it's a nice experience. With a full-time job, a lazy wife and three kids, there's just no time for it for me.

Yes, the more you do it the easier it gets. However, it takes so long from when I do something to when I do it again that the experience is no longer fresh in my head and I go through the same crap again. Sometimes a difference in design will make it murder even if you just did one the month prior on a different car. Now when it's done and finished and running, you can't beat the feeling of self-satisfaction. You even have bragging points about "when I did that engine swap". You feel like a champ.(first)
