My car's back. I thought I would let you guys know what was actaully wrong with it. Here is what they printed on the work order:
Found 2 coolant leaks. 1st leak was at coolant housing block at water pump. Found housing bolt broken at bolt head. Removed coolant block. Drilled out bolt and retapped threads. Replaced bolt. 2nd leak was coolant hose located at cylinder head coolant housing that supplies coolant to turbo. Hose had a hole in it. Replaced hose. Note: spent time with Mazda N.A.. Tim Barns and Allan Johnson. Explained all problems. Had to send faulty hose to Tim Barns.
The car runs great now. Now steaming. The mechanic who worked on my car is a master tech and a great guy to deal with. He helped us turn our rotors for free last year at our Miata shadetree mechanic party at the dealership. He loves this car and wants to figure out ways to up the horsepower on it without voiding the warranty. He has an itch to pop open the valve cover and investigate a bit. He also told me that my car is broken in and that I can drive normally. I am going to take it a little easy but I may investigate the limits a bit this weekend. The handling is unreal for a sedan. I am blown away.
I purchased a front mask for my car for a Protege 5. I am going to see if I can make it work. Trussville Mazda said that if it didn't fit and it was clean that I could return it.
I drove this car last night to a local convenient store where I know a bunch of car guys usually hang. As soon as I got out of the car some guys says "hey did this car come this color?" I told him yes and it was one of 600 made. He went on and on how much he loved the color. If any of you are wavering on this color......do it. It is truely outstanding and I haven't even seen it in the sunshine yet.
