My ENGINE FELL OUT!!! Im NOT JOKING, This #UCKIN SUCKS!!!!!

voiceKoil said:
So my damn engine mount failed today. Its been making a clunking noise for sometime, Ive had my dealer look at it 2 times and they said it was fine. This past week it was getting worse, I was getting very concerned, I called last Weds to make an appointment, they were booked up, I work during the day so I didnt work out, they stopped servicing on Sat now too, so I had an appointment tomorrow night at 5pm on one of their late night days. Well the car didnt hold on long enough, today it failed on me.

I was leaving autozone and I saw a buddy of mine in his car driving the oppisite direction, I went to grab my phone but it had fell under my seat and I couldnt reach it, So I pulled over in a Burger king. I got my phone and gave him a call, I was driving around their driver through to leave when it happend. I was going about 5mph and then I heard a nasty noise from the engine compartment and it had a loss of power, then it made this low thudding noise as it rolled, I knew immediately what it was......I was on the phone with my buddy and I was just like "dude my #ucking engine just fell out" he thought I was joking, and I was like "do I sound like Im joking...." I was not reving it or anything it just let loose, After that I drove it about 20 feet to a parking spot and called my dealer which was closed and left my sales rep a message, telling him what happen. I called some more people the called for the tow. I like how my roadside assistance was closed, I ended up calling my buddy with a tow truck that I would deal with when I was scrapping eclipses, cash for dead cars after I get what I want from them, I figured he could use the extra cash since my dealers about 40miles from where I was.

IM EXTREMELY PISSED about this, mainly because I brought it to my dealers attention on several different occassions and actually had it "looked at" by the service department, which everytime they wouldnt let me over to the bay that my car was at, they were probably reading a magazine or taking a nap instead of actually looking at it. Because I know they didnt actually check it out. And now it happend, and so much could be screwed up with my car that could have been the simple twist of a wrench..... I even printed out from here a detailed description of it happening to someone elses car and what is causing it, I gave it to them to keep, when I gave it to them and when I left it was sitting in the same spot on their desk, so that shows how much they believed me.....NOW The cars sitting in front of their service door with a note on the steering wheel saying not to drive it, the engine feel out like I was talking about. So Ill see what they have to say for their stupid a$$ selves tomorrow. Heres some pics, I had my camera with me.......

Also, my intake is a little crushed, my hks bov vacumm line is bent up the visible mount on the passanger side is crumbled.

I have 7501 miles on my car, it was one of the first over here like the others that failed, I bought it 10/19/06

Im mostly worried about what their going to replace, so many little things could be screwed up, my exhaust could be twisted other seals could have broken, drive shaft, steering column, I dont know but this isnt going to be a quick fix for them....

My buddy dosent have a flat bed which honestly right now I dont even care, the car is trashed to me, when I get it back I guess Ill keep it, but thats a serious thing to me that this happend and honestly makes my mind set to selling it before the warranty is up..... :( Im pretty sad now and the fact my dealer cared less about my previouse concern makes me angry....

thats too bad....they will fix it but its still a pain in the ass..my dealer stil has my car and i cant wait for aftermarket s*** to come out for the side mounts..if this doesnt happen often enough mazda wont fix it....hopefully after the many only on this forum along with others im sure something can be resolved by them to prevent this..i will find links and send them to u about motors falling out..(boobs2)

Ok People look i read all this gossip and heres my 2 cents worth.
Like anything else until it starts happeing on a regular basis and when enough mounts fail, then mazda will do something about it.
If only 100 mounts fail of the 5k of cars that come here, mazda will proably not issue a recal and just fix the issue at hand.

Mazda knows about it and yes they believe they have the fix, by removing the excess rubber on the motor mount. As an owner yes it sucks, but as an enthusist its just "one of those things". NO one has reported the failure at higher speeds, Mainly due to the fact that lower gears and slower speeds are where all the trq is. The trq from the motor rocks the bolt and shears it. EVEN if it did fail at high speed, i'm pretty damn sure nothing else would happen except alot of banging and noise from all the broken s*** under the hood.

My mount broke mid way through 2nd gear , so about 35-40 mph, I didn't lose control of the car, the steering still worked fine, the brakes were good, i just pulled the car off to the side and shut the motor off.

Mazda gave me an immediate rental and had the car back to me in 4 days (would've been sooner but the BPV wasn't readily available and we had to wait for the tech reps)

I'm not happy that a MOTOR MOUNT is failing, but i am happy that i have a decent service department that was willing to help and get things right for me. For those of you that have bad dealers near you, then you need to be calling mazda and letting them know the delaer is bad and request the car be fixed else where at mazdas expense. Meaning if they have to take the car to the next nearest dealer, then so be it, eventually mazda will jump these dealers ass and get them to have better customer service.

On the flip side, don;t expect much help from a dealer when you as the customer come in and start demanding stuff and telling the "DEALER" how they car is junk. The dealer is a middle man. If you walk in calm and cool and the dealer says tough s*** then call mazda and let them know BY NAME the asshole you were talking to and let them fix the issue, otherwise you'll still have the same asshole there to deal with.

I brought my car in when i hear the poping clunking sound. the service manager rode in the car with me and verified the sound, he asked if i was ready to drop off the car and i said no, i'll do it on monday, Come sunday the mount fails. The service manager was very apoligetic and also pissed because he honestly felt that they should have taken in the car when we first heard the noise. either way it fixed and stil runs great.
I love my MS3. My SVO can run ******* circles around it, but i still have a big grin when i drive my MS3.

In conclusion, take this failure as important but not a reason to worry TOO much. No one has died, or even got close to having an accident, it just pops and bam your no longer moving. NOW if a replacement mount fails, its time to get concerned, this is why i don't drive my car any different. If my new mount goes tits up then i guess mazda will be buying back my car.

For the rest of the MS3 owners out there, just drive the car have fun and IF it breaks then call Road side assistance and smile like i did. For future owners, all i can say is i honestly believe this issue is not a god enough reason to NOT buy the car. The MS3 is an absolute blast to drive and i don't regret anything.

Im sorry to hear about this, but Im even sorrier to inform that I too, have an 08/06 build. I think Ive been hearing a pop under some acceleration lately as well.

Could you describe, in more detail, what led you to believe your car needed to be seen, before this happened. You said it was making some different noises than what you had heard before.

Damn Im annoyed right now.

If mine breaks Im giving it up. Period. I wont drive a brand new car with this s*** going on. I still have water leaking under my passenger floor board and after two service trips, my official response is that it has been checked for leaks, and there is nothing wrong. They feel that I should run the AC on re3circ and the problem will be resolved.

Ive got a finicky car with a crap dealership, and this board isnt making me feel any better. I came from Lexuses and Acuras into this thing and there is a BIG difference in the way things are handled. And I mean more than just the Starbucks and cookies in the waiting rooms.

Basically it got bad enough that if I would punch the gas then let off you could hear it clunk, just a reall quick push the pedal to the floor and let off kind of thing, it honestly sounds exactly what you would think a loose motor mount would sound like. Everyone thought I was crazy but I knew my car and I could hear it before, then last week it was bad enough for people in my car to ask me what that noise was. It progressivly got worse and I didnt make it to the dealer in time....

I went to the dealer today and they said if its under warranty which it is then theyll fix it. Basically what the Vice President of my dealer told me, "all that happen was the mount broke, we'll fix it, it should be fine, the engine is still in the car you dont have to worry about it" he acted like my #uckin gas cap was messed up and it would be a quick fix. I told him I wasnt comfortable with what would be done because they said they checked it out before and it was fine, but it obviously wasnt and now I have to count on them to fix it. Its such crap, I really dont want to keep it, but I dont want to buy something else..... Im just really pissed, it could have been avoided but it wasnt because they were #uckin lazy a$$es.

I dont like the fact how some make it seem like its not a big deal, this is a very serious issue and we are completely down playing it because its happend so much and noones gotten hurt. What about our cars we bought new cars and then have this happen and HOPE that its brought back to its original condition, with honestly NO guarantee that everything was addressed as it was needed to. Honestly my dealer is acting like theyll slap the other mount on and thats it, like yeh well see what happens.....

Just like the Rx8s engines failing due to lack of oil pressure or the pumps failing in higher temperature areas, like all those people needed to have new engines put in there car and be told it will be fine....

Whos going to pay for my dented intake and my Hks bov my girlfriend bought me for christmas??? This is #uckin bull and Im gettin pretty pissed about it.

Oh and I like how my dealer is telling me to decide on what I want to do but if Im going to take any action against mazda then Ill have to get my car towed because they cant store it, nice people! (yippy)

Its not like the door is rubbing, or the stereo stopped working, its the damn engine, that is what the whole car is built around and is what is most likely to fail over time. If you have an old car and the door rubbed or the stereo stopped working you would fix it, if the engine fails then 9 times out of 10 you would scrap the car, simple as that. (strike)

I'm really surprised the Speed3 doesn't have a cross member and 4 mounts like most Mazda models before it.

Yeh honestly the whole design sucks.... Theres nothing in front of the engine at all which I thought was bad when I bought it... Just the 2 sides and in back. They took all this time reinforcing the body and dont even offer a damn sunroof because they dont want to weaken the body, yet they cant even make sure the engine stayes put. Beefed up body, Beefed up motor, and a crappy way of attaching the two..

Really if 1 motor mount fails the engine should not do what it did. The other side mount crumbled as well..... Which really should be able to keep the engine put, I think theres a lot more of a problem in the design than a simple bolt backing out.

Ive had motor mouint snap on other cars of mine, the one was on my eclipse it actually slashed the radiator hose, that was the only reason I knew it failed, because the #ucking motor diidnt fall down like this, it just made a noise after words, I patched the hose with duct tape put water in it and drove it home with no problem. It sounded like I was killing my MS3 when I drove it 20 feet. Its really a bad design!!!!

Sorry to hear it dude. Did you call the North American Headquarters yet to make a formal complaint while it's getting fixed?

as i Said Before, it wasnt my intention of making nobody feel bad that owns a MS3, My Appologies for VoiceKoil for beign affected my the poor not so say Garbage Customer Service and technical Support. I think 99% of mazda dealers are garbage, they never paid attention and care about the customers once they have bought the vehicles from them. I had a Similar Problems with my Mazda dealer, they just didnt give a damn about fixing the car the right way. until I got tired of the same problem, taking the car for an issue to be fixed, and ended up with 7 other issues cause by their poor knowledge and not qualified mechanics. I put a big ass complain in the number i just post before and got Mazda TECHLINE from Georgia that came all the way from georgia to pick up my car and get it fix by there TECHLINE Department. also They File A Claim to the dealer which they had to pay a Penalty fine for having continuos problems about not fixing the vehicles the right way and for not having qualify employees. People These 1-800-222-5500 do really work and do really listen. after that ive never taken my car back to the dealer even though i still have warranty on it. i prefer of doing most of work my self or just paid a known shop to do the work.

I just got off the phone with Scott from Mazda, I complained about my dealer overlooking this problem before and told him what happend, he said it wont be a problem everything will be fixed. He was nice, I think I should have complained more though...... But I told him about the dealer overlooking it and what happend, he said hes going to contact the dealer, I asked about my intake and bov and he said since he cant see it he cant say yes or no, he said he would talk to the dealer about that and they will make the judgment call on replacing them... So idk I guess Im just going to have to live with it

call that number, and make the story a little more dangerous. tell them you almost had a deadly accident cause your brand new car with only 7k whatever miles engine fell off, tell them you took your car several times for the same issue. and they just ended up telling you that the car have warranty and since they dont pay for it you can bring it as many times as you want. but also tell them if you have a accident and you get injured whos gonna be responsible for that.. if you dont do it these way they wont even bother, you know what i mean ? always have to add some tragedy s*** for them to listen, but does really work, atleast for me and a few other friends of mine. also tell them you want to put a complain to the dealer you take your car to be fixed.... theyll listen to you for sure buddie..

Buddie, You cant be soft with these motherfuckers, and just accept at first place anything they tell you.. you have to fight them hard, and you shouldt told them about your intake, they always come out with some wack ass theory about your bov and intake has cause to make the engine fell out. which got nothing to do with your problem... ive been there and done that. get nasty with them, and always ask them for the full name or employee number is your right to know with who you are talking to...

Well I called back a couple times, apparently "Scott" went to lunch.... I talked to someone else I sounded somewhat pissed and I left a somewhat pissed sounding voicemail for scott to call me back, Ill call back there in an hour if I dont hear from him.... Its that damn elivator music they play for you while your on hold, it calmed me down to much the first time!

I remember being on hold pissed off for some reason, and the song "Had a bad day" came on and I was even more pissed off.

send them a bill for aggrivation neglect and incompetence. and send a mix cd to their wives with elevator music on it and some sexy photos.
