my amp keeps shutting off

yea i think you mgiht have it wired to 1ohm or .5 which is why its shutting off. Unsure no to wrire the sub im sure someoen else knows for sure, i dont want to tell you something unless im positive

i never thought about that, but that could be true. i did notice that the amp is getting pretty warm. anyone no how to wire the sub correctly. i thought i had it right before but i guess not. oh well, it will work out eventually. thanx for the help!

Sounds like it's overheating, my sub's amp does the same thing in the summer sometimes. It's better that it shuts off then anything else. I just try to remember to leave the a/c on and the back seats folded down so that the amps get some good cool air.

You might consider mounting some small fans back there, or perhaps a better amp.

Or, GASP - you could turn it down.

my back seat is folded down and the amp is only about half way up, if that much.

I know along with alot of others.. but I have ot konw what the impedance of the subs are. adn I need to konw if they are single or dual voice coil. if you arenot sure you can check teh manufactors website for your model. if you dont konw that, then I reccomend using a DMM to check it. just a cheap one that will tell you what the resistance is.

the impedance of the subs is 4 ohms. i think they are just single voice coil. the specs of the amp and the subs are posted above.

i'll try to take a picture of the wiring, but i'm going to wait until it stops raining. i'll have one by tomorrow or saturday. i can tell u that it's bridged, if that helps you any. thanx!

OK.. if you have the thing bridged and you have 2 subs that are 4 ohms each then they are prob in parrallel. if that is true then the resistance is to low. your amp dont want less than 4 ohms bridged.

parrallel.. the input from the amp is hooked ot both the positive terminals on boths subs. and the negative from the amp is hooked to both the negative terminals on both subs.

I did a quick search and found this. just more proof for ya http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/scri...HZsMT0xJnBfc29ydF9ieT1kZmx0JnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=
this is why I went to RF site. dotn reccomend their s***, but they do have a good tutorial for wiring up subs. check this out http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/
the wizard is very easy. just pick the number of woofers and the impedance of them. show you your optoins. you dont really have any other option than hooking each woofer up to 1 channel on the amp. left sub to left channel adn right sub to right channel. that will keep the impedance where you need it.

wow, thanx dude. that site is extremely helpful. i'll check everything out this weekend when it stops raining. thanx again, you guys have been a lot of help!

ok, well whatever i did seems to be working just fine. i drove around for about an hour and a half and it never shut off once. thanx for all the help you guys offered. (thumb)
