It isn't the "fastest" but it sure is up there for the price and target market.facts dont lie...still the fastest car..regarless of peoples opinion of style
The United States was discovered by an Italian (Christoforo Colombo) and named for another (Amerigo Vespucci).

Looks are looks and they vary greatly with people, but performance is a solid fact. Something both the EVO and STI hold high on both in straight and cornering.
Personally I think it is a great time to buy such cars, there is a wide number avaible from those to the 350Z and Rx8.
Plenty of options for buyers.

even on a dry road the evo will smoke the msp..evos are beasts..

REMillers said:Again for those that do not realize the difference between aftermarket and production cars.
It will ALWAYS be cheaper to modify a car with aftermarket to be faster than a more expensive production.
I could go get a 1990 DSM (2,000) and invest barely 4,000 dollars make it a 12 second car plus with handling.
Now that doesn't make the MSP a crappy car in comparison nor does it make the EVO crappy.
Course be welling to bet the EVO has more engine capacity for higher HP numbers than the MSP.
It doesn't lower any cars worthiness just different classes.
Plus more times then none the production car will be more realiable than the higher modify cheaper car.
To each his own, just amazed some people can't respect nor appreciate what each car offers in the market.

let's see here 2003 Evolution VIII $ 29,987 and the 2003 mazdaspeed protege is 19,980 from the factory, there is a difference in a 10,007 price range for only 101hp and 113ft'lbs of torque. I'm pretty sure with $10,007 big ones, you can make a MSP faster than the Evo even with it's $2800 aftermarket parts. Yes the Evo would spank the MSP in the 0-60, 1/4mile, Topspeed category, but i bet that you could flip the script visa-versa 0-60 and 1/4mile for the MSP.
Evolution VIII: (STOCK) Mazdaspeed Protege: (STOCK)
0-60....4.59- 5.0sec 0-60..........6.5-6.9sec
1/4mile.13.08-13.8sec 1/4mile......14.9-15.4sec
For $2800 Brings the ET. 12.00sec, For 10,007 extra Big $$$ i',m sure you can bring the MSP down to maybe 11's or 12's in the same performance range as a Evo VIII and spent about as much as he payed for the car itself and, it's as just as fast as an evo and not to mention he also had to spent $2800 in Mods. FWD Vs. AWD, that's pretty damm Impressive. Yes i know in order to make the MSP faster than an Evo VIII it needed an extra 10,000 grand into it, but the Pathetic thing is, all in all $together "it cost just as much as an Evo VIII's MSRP and with $2800 in mods and it is just as fast or maybe even faster than an Evo VIII, and it's all so FWD.

Then your MSP goes ...... BOOM(attn)

What happen to the love around this place anyways? Anything remotely MSP related generally walks down the path towards flames.

Just curious as it has been growing ever so steady.
