MSP vs EVO...

To quote a response in another one of your threads:
facts dont lie...still the fastest car..regarless of peoples opinion of style
It isn't the "fastest" but it sure is up there for the price and target market.
Looks are looks and they vary greatly with people, but performance is a solid fact. Something both the EVO and STI hold high on both in straight and cornering.
Personally I think it is a great time to buy such cars, there is a wide number avaible from those to the 350Z and Rx8. :)
Plenty of options for buyers.

The United States was discovered by an Italian (Christoforo Colombo) and named for another (Amerigo Vespucci).

I think the Indians and the Vikings may argue that point. :)

Columbus's discovery (or re-discovery, if you prefer) is rightly regarded as the most historically important, and will continue to be. That is because, unlike the others, Columbus inaugurated permanent large-scale two-way commerce between the Old World and the New. Previous discoveries were so little known that even the best-educated Europeans were unaware of the existence of America prior to Columbus. The "Admiral of the Ocean Sea," unlike any of his predecessors, changed the world.

Did Columbus "discover" America? Yesin every important respect. This does not mean that no human eye had been cast on America before Columbus arrived. It does mean that Columbus brought America to the attention of the civilized world, i.e., to the growing, scientific civilizations of Western Europe. The result, ultimately, was the United States of America. It was Columbus's discovery for Western Europe that led to the influx of ideas and people on which this nation was foundedand on which it still rests. The opening of America brought the ideas and achievements of Aristotle, Galileo, Newton, and the thousands of thinkers, writers, and inventors who followed.

Columbus should be honored, for in so doing, we honor Western civilization. But the critics do not want to bestow such honor, because their real goal is to denigrate the values of Western civilization and to glorify the primitivism, mysticism, and collectivism embodied in the tribal cultures of American Indians. They decry the glorification of the West as "cultural imperialism" and "Eurocentrism."

smiling right back dude

like Chris Rock says...by that definition I think I'm gonna come over and "discover your wallet" :)

And didn't Columbus find America by accident? Oh well, I don't wanna thread jack so I'll just leave that alone.

Remember that no matter what you do to the MSP, you aren't going to beat an EVO on anything other than a dry road.

even on a dry road the evo will smoke the msp..evos are beasts..

im not tryin to start fights..or bein a "hater"..just realistic..

Unfreakin' real! I can't believe the s*** in this thread!!:bs:
"My MSP is so much sexier and better looking..." Please spare me that :bs: !!
Looks are subjective but the "looks like a Pontiac" or "My stereo kicks ass", don't kid yourselves.....:wtf:
The Evo is in a different class, and it is heads above even a modded MSP. s***, with 25hp less it still beats the STI in a lot of area's.

Man, there are a lot of fragile ego's on this forum! "My ego is so fragile that I feel the need to insult another car to make everybody think I am cool and to boost my flailing insecurities" That should be the title of this thread.

let's see here 2003 Evolution VIII $ 29,987 and the 2003 mazdaspeed protege is 19,980 from the factory, there is a difference in a 10,007 price range for only 101hp and 113ft'lbs of torque. I'm pretty sure with $10,007 big ones, you can make a MSP faster than the Evo even with it's $2800 aftermarket parts. Yes the Evo would spank the MSP in the 0-60, 1/4mile, Topspeed category, but i bet that you could flip the script visa-versa 0-60 and 1/4mile for the MSP.

Evolution VIII: (STOCK) Mazdaspeed Protege: (STOCK)

0-60....4.59- 5.0sec 0-60..........6.5-6.9sec
1/4mile.13.08-13.8sec 1/4mile......14.9-15.4sec

For $2800 Brings the ET. 12.00sec, For 10,007 extra Big $$$ i',m sure you can bring the MSP down to maybe 11's or 12's in the same performance range as a Evo VIII and spent about as much as he payed for the car itself and, it's as just as fast as an evo and not to mention he also had to spent $2800 in Mods. FWD Vs. AWD, that's pretty damm Impressive. Yes i know in order to make the MSP faster than an Evo VIII it needed an extra 10,000 grand into it, but the Pathetic thing is, all in all $together "it cost just as much as an Evo VIII's MSRP and with $2800 in mods and it is just as fast or maybe even faster than an Evo VIII, and it's all so FWD.

Again for those that do not realize the difference between aftermarket and production cars.
It will ALWAYS be cheaper to modify a car with aftermarket to be faster than a more expensive production.

I could go get a 1990 DSM (2,000) and invest barely 4,000 dollars make it a 12 second car plus with handling.
Now that doesn't make the MSP a crappy car in comparison nor does it make the EVO crappy.

Course be welling to bet the EVO has more engine capacity for higher HP numbers than the MSP.

It doesn't lower any cars worthiness just different classes.

Plus more times then none the production car will be more realiable than the higher modify cheaper car.

To each his own, just amazed some people can't respect nor appreciate what each car offers in the market.

Well Said;) I never did say that i didn't like the Evo VIII, "Which i know that you'r not pointing your finger to me but," i was thinking about getting a Evo VIII cause they had 2 Evo's one blue and one white, the blue one was in the showroom floor and they had a 3,000 mark-up but then the salesman said he would sell it for MSRP, 28,987-30,000. I still like the Evo VIII and would get one but i was just stating that you can make the MSP quicker than a Evo with a lot invested into it for about the same amount of $ that the Evo's MSRP was and not to mention it was running 12's flat with 2800 in mods.:)

Then your MSP goes ...... BOOM(attn)

I was in SC over the weekend and the Mitsu dealership had 6 (yes 6) evo's on the lot. I decided I should visit and check them out. They were all at MSRP and I must say they are much better looking in person IMHO. I like that car quite a bit now. Wasn't sure about the body style but it's schweet in person. The color options aren't too shabby either.

And my god, the numbers that thing pulls down out of the box is rediculous!

Well he speaks the truth most likey the MSP engine will go BOOM unless carefully monitored.

What happen to the love around this place anyways? Anything remotely MSP related generally walks down the path towards flames.
Just curious as it has been growing ever so steady.

I know this......and I hate to say it because I was wondering where Buster has been - kinda missing him - but he apparently is back, with nothing nice to say. So Sad!

^^OMG is it possible someone finally realize you can like or dislike multiply cars!!

*faints* :D

Love or hate each for that they bring to the market, don't know how many times I have mutter this phrase.
Nice having all these choices for new buyers who are looking for good sports cars.

oh btw think buster comment in the last post was accurate, a 11-12 second MSP would probably be going boom boom. Unless carefully monitored and constructed which is something you normally don't have to worry in a fast production car over a fast aftermarket.
