Wow, I have major problems with Browns. But perfection with Rosenthal in Arlington hahahhahahaha. Talk to Bryan in Rosenthal Arlington. He's the only one with the tech that knows about the update. You can actually go this week if you call him. Plus it only takes an hour and a half. [/QUOT

who knows man, i keep getting stuck with this guy named willy
he told me they did 2 the other day and it would take 4 hours
and i made one appointment with them , left work early missed out on 50$ a hour over time, and got there early and he STILL
found a way to say " oh yea ummm well ill need you to drop it off in the morning" i say i thought thats why i made this appointment
grrr i work from 3am to 5 pm most days . it was the final straw with them

Well I think I talked to Willy too. I was like, there is a flash, so please check with people there, your service manager or whoever and call me back. Bob (service manager) calls me back in like 5 minutes and was like yes....we have it and Bryan will help you fix it. So I set up my appointment the next day with no problem. I tried Browns' first...but also one person knew about the fix (Greg)......but Greg wouldn't call me back after leaving like 2 or so messages to set up an appointment.

why do dealerships grill me every time i mention "flash"

just got off the phone with a service rep ,and made my appointment to be flashed next tuesday.
i swear he acted like im lying. and he wants to give me rental car to test drive mine etc.. and actually said that "chat rooms are a place people complain about there car even when theres nothing wrong with it" and hinted about how mazda speed owners are a royal pain. i never mentioned i read any thing on the internet . wtf thats lame .... yea i noticed some hesitation when i first bought my car, and i honestly thought it was normal .
and yea once i read about everyones issues with it . i decided to have my car flashed also .
i dont think theres any thing wrong with that , but now if this clown isnt able to reproduce some hesitation (shouldnt be hard)
he will deny my flash... any one have any advice on what i should do or say if i have any problems?

i cant believe he would say that msp owners are a pain in the ass :D

bump^ my dealer said 95% of people on the internet lies and there is no such thing. And the mechanic that came up with the flash idea got fired. WOW they fed me so many lies, and I just stood there.. Is there any way to go behind there back (by going direct to mazda usa) and getting them to do it?

go to another dealer, thats what i did after putting up with bad service for 1 year. My new dealer is great.

Yeahp, all dealerships will say that because forums like this are their enemy. These forums educate the owners and there's nothing worse to a dealership than an educated owner. There's nothing you can do except comb the Earth for the 1 or 2 decent dealerhships that exist -- pretty much all car manufacturers have us by the short and curlies and there's not jack squat we can do about it.:'(

I drove 43 miles to a dealer who understood and did the flash - took an hour and they bought me breakfast while doing the work! Two steps:

1) Find a dealer who knows their stuff, drive to them, patronize them, because the extra timne spent driving a great car pays off in less time spent missing overtime and arguing with people who are better at arguing than we are (they're pros and deal with UN-educated car owners all the time).

2) Call Mazda USA and name names. Make sure you get the dealer service questionnaire and bomb them on it - be honest, but brutal. I believe dealers get paid (not cash, but awards, advertising, perks) based on their JD Powers (and others) ratings.

Good luck - and it's worth the drive...

I agree.

My original dealer sucked extreme ass and they always treated me like the enemy, bitching about turbo timers and weatherstripping, etc, etc.... So now I drive an extra hour to this new dealer, and so far so good. I came in with a good attitude and tried to get on their good side, which I think I accomplished. I first went to them for the flash and they were totally cool about it..I gave them the printout that boostisgood posted and they took it from there. They let me hang out in the garage while they were flashing and we talked cars. Basically the difference between my new dealer and old dealer is night and day. I'm going back tommorrow to get a cel checked out and see if they can change the crappy vacuum lines. I don't want to jinx it, but they seem like one of those few 'cool' dealers. Hopefully they'll continue the good service at my next visit.

my dealer is cool as s***. they dont sell mazdaspeeds cause they say they suck (they said it not me so dont flame :)), but everytime i do something major to the car i take it to show them and everyone comes out and looks and they normally give me some sort of food and my salesman buys me a soda. then when people buy from them they tell them about my car...well, not really anymore since there are no more p5s. but still, theyre cool as hell. and knowing what they know about how many times ive voided the warranty they still ask if theres any probs ive got they could fix, etc.

Bouight my car and got flashed from this dealership. :) They're good people. Very pleasant and polite, and the Mazda service manager knows his stuff. Plus the little things. like a free meal at the cafeteria (the dealership is HUGE enough to have it's own cafeteria for workers and customers) are a nice touch.

The survey determine the amount of back end rebates they get at the end of the year and the sales guy gets compensated for the amount of back end they earn

dealerships vary

Yeah I definately agree it just depends on what dealership you go to. The dealership I go to, Jake Sweeney Mazda of Cincy, are fairly cool with Speed owners. I recently went in to get my sub replaced for the 2nd time!, and they agree with me that it is probably factory related. I noticed other posts that said there is a subwoofer problem w/ the car. When they called me to tell me my part was in, they said they would Flash the car while I was there. I didn't even mention it too them and they were already willing to do it for me. Take advice from others. Search around for a quality dealership.

Forgot to mention in this post that the dealer I drove 43 miles to was Sansone in Woodbridge NJ - and I'd do the drive again, even if just for maintenance work. I did NOT expect this good service from what is obviously a highway, high volume dealer, but they were fine, no problems. Service writer knew his stuff, cafeteria was, well, free food I can't complain about (at all, the french toast was quite acceptable), the dealership was clean, and they had 2 blue MSPs on the lot (said they have trouble keeping them in stock!). Only complaint I'd have is that their tire prices were a little high (they have the tires in the write-up bay), but then again I have no problem with someone making a buck, and am definitely used to the Tire Rack (and have a local installer).

Yeah, tire prices are inflated. $242 for the OEM Potenzas!!! WTF!!

Dealers...

I have had terrible luck at all Mazda and VW dealerships. The latest is that I was treated very well but, given very poor service. I had my sub replaced and they left the bolts off of it. So, it bounced and rattled all over the place until I got home. One of the bolts were rolling around in the trunk.

They claimed not to be able to hear a constant clunking noise in the rear. My almost deaf dad told me to get it checked out because even HE could hear it. Maybe they couldn't hear it because of all the noise the sub was making?

They were aware of the flash but, said that Mazda hadn't sent it to them and it could be months before they got it. (which I take to believe it's available but, the dealership does not know how or want to obtain it)

Most of the surveys I get ask about how you were treated at the dealership and not about whether you're satisfied with the ACTUAL CAR you bought or the ACTUAL SERVICE performed on it. So, that's all they care about. The car itself can suck, the service can suck, but, as long they are nice, the survey looks good.

I would rather them be condescending assholes and have accurately diagnosed and fixed problems. What a concept!

Word. I called Premier Mazda in Austin and talked to a guy who knew all about the flash, the clunk, the rusting brake hubs. So I make an appointment for a few days later, and when I get there that guy has left on vacation, and the service writer there says; "Well, the flash is only to cure a CEL problem, are you having that problem?" And: "Clunk? You mean you have something rattling in the trunk?" And: "Yeah, brake hubs will rust, there's nothing you can do about it."

So I explain a few things to him, and leave the car anyway, because I've driven 75 miles to a dealer who's service dept. sounded like they knew what they were doing, plus I had some other warranty stuff I wanted checked out. I call the next day to see if the car's ready and he tells me they fixed all the stuff I complained about, but that the repair on the rusting brake hubs was a one time thing, and can't be done again under warranty. Fine, I'm not going to argue over the phone.

I pick up the car on a Saturday, (service dept. not open on Saturday, so I can't talk to anyone), and they didn't fix the clunk because the idiot didn't even write it on the repair order! Not only that, but they fixed, or at least toned down, the high speed vibration I was having, but now the car has a wicked torque steer. Even gentle acceleration on the highway causes the car to pull bad to the left, and when I let off the gas, it pulls to the right.

I'm glad I didn't let these bozos do the flash, no telling what they would have ****** up while doing it. Dealerships, Jesus, I wish I could find one that didn't have have their head completely up their ass.

WEll, umm, you can drive to Sansone... sorry to hear about your experience, been there with other cars and another local Mazda dealer....

Hall Mazda in Virginia Beach is fantastic... GREAT service department too... don't know how far that is from you. I bought bought my MSP from them (1st one in Hampton Roads!) in January and they never gave me a single reason to complain...
