MSP or ITR(Integra Type-R)

I am looking into buying a car and have narrowed the choices down to either a MSP or a Acura Integra Type-R. I know the differences and similarities between the two on paper, but was wondering if anyone on this board has driven/rode in a ITR? If anyone has, if they could please comment on how it was. THanks.

ITRs are awesome, I got to drive one a few years back. Had a solid ride, and quick acceleration. About the same as my MSP hehe.

They both are FWD, great handling, around the same HP. Obviously one is a coupe and the other a sedan.

If i had a choice I would probably take an ITR but I love my MSP.

definately compare insurance rates on the two. Some companies label the MSP as a Protege sedan=cheap insurance.

I vote MSP, but I'm a little bias.

I'm predicting most your responses are going to be that the integra is "played out" or something along those lines.

I think it depends on what qualitites you value in a car. I would bet that the integra is more reliable, and a helluva lot easier to find parts for. The MSP has great handling, and is somewhat unique.
As far as stock performance, power, handling, and the overall feel of the car I'd say just go test drive both of them and decide for yourself.

if i found a STOCK or very lightly modified ITR, i'd buy it ..... i wouldn't buy a modded one. the chances of a stock one out there is so slim these days. people that have them are holding on to them... or selling them for well over what they're worth.

ITR..depending on condition and who the previous owner was. If it was c0ompletely stock, lady driven, I'd buy it.

A stock type R will cost more for an older car with more miles than the msp. Just a thought to consider.

I would get the MSP if you live in an area where there is any type of car theft. The ITR is one of the most stolen vehicles known to man. If you live in a low crime area, it's a toss up, but I would lean towards the ITR.

i want to say the type-r, but i cant. its really nice, fast, fun to drive and all, but i was on honda-tech checking out some prices on ITR's like last week, and they are all still very expensive. they stopped making them in 2001. i dont understand how the price hasnt gone down at all. it blows my mind, therefore, i go with the MSP.

This one is all about preferences. I'd get the MSP if I wanted to be unique and stick out from the crowd since it is a limited production vehicle. But i'd go with the ITR if I was looking to go really really fast.

Looks like the main differences are the turboed engine in the MSP, and it actually has a thing called torque(relatively speaking), high theft rate for ITR and high insurance rates for the ITR, and the 8400 redline n/a itr motor, and the inflated value for the ITR.

I fail to see this as a negative. Also keep in mind the ITR lighter than the msp and handles just as well.

Yeah, but MSP is discontinued PERIOD. Never again will they even think about bringing it back to production. Not even will they think about bringing back the FS Series motor into a future car. The ITR is still produced in the DC5 chasis. The only thing is that it's known as the RSX in the states and is labeled as an Integra in Japan. But all in all, like always, the only thing that sets them apart is a name, engine internals and different interior and exterior looks. And like always, the US always gets the "watered-down" versions. And that's why there's a JDM Market.

But if you straight up compare the 2 cars, I think the ITR would come out on top in all aspects. the ITR produces more power in NA form as compared to the MSP which has a bigger displaced motor WITH a turbo. And that's not to mention all the other factors like weight, braking, handling, ETC. And with the money you'd spend on either car, the ITR would still be on top. you could run the same turbo set up in each car and the MSP wouldn't compare up to the ITR. I could give you a list of reasons why but the moral of the story is, it's totally up the the BUYER'S PREFERENCE!!!

OR, You could just go buy an STi and kill both cars

But the high theft rate (understatement) would be a big deterrent unless garaged. I've got a friend with one (ITR) who belongs to a club. One of the guys in my area had one with a very high-end alarm and someone knew how to bypass it and stripped it bare (relatively speaking) while he slept. These ARE highly sought after cars. Especially by the wrong people.

It just depends what type of car you need,for me it was the extra two doors that helped me decide. either way both cars are a good choice.

sucks to hear about your friends car...that's one thing i've learned. Never take your car to a quesionable shop to get an alarm installed. they're usually the ones who know about your car and what it's got. Take it to a reputable shop with a good background.

AFI - only a few honda tranny's are of high quality. on most of them, 3rd gear always craps out on you. but the ITR one is probably one of the best so it's obsolete in this guys situation.
