im happy with the car...it gets good gas milage and a blast to drive. Bad news is the inner trunk release went out so that will probally mean my 3rd time to the dealer. RAdio and reflash were the only other fixes.

THanksgiving drove from Orlando to Tamps/clearwater and drove all over town. I had my brother, mother and father siting in the car with AC on. WE also tried to take some pics at Port of Tampa but got in trouble with port athority who thought we were terrorist taking pictures of the port? They threatend to cavity search us...WTF?

Loged 298.6 miles to and back with 10 gallons of 93 octane gas at $2.39 a gallon.

thats 29.86 miles per gallon and still running rich according to the WB O2 and sparatic backfires with a hi-flow cat. Hope to lean it out a bit to get even better milage. And DSM hardpipes + custom's SMIC works! Poped the hood open after a 3 hour drive and the coldpipe was...still cold ;). No I just have to somehow insulate it against the engine compartment heat. humdity was low and the weather was cool but not too cold...high 70s to mid 80s.

I love my MSP.... 35K and still running strong. My goal is to create the ultimate Econobox. One that looks good and fun to drive while still maintaining good economy and utility.

I <3 my MSP.

i just got 300 miles on roughly 10 gallons of gas here (93 octane) if i dont get between 30-33 mpg im pissed!!! (and that hwy/city)

To secret to getting good mileage on the highway is to do no more than 50mph with the windows up and the A/C on.

yeah I was suprised sine there was still alot of stop and go traffic in a 30-40 traffic jam around Disney and lakeland.

But gerenally I can easily get over 320 mile on one fill up. I think im going to concentrate on a cleaner spark. I have Nology hotwires and colder plugs.

noted...I'll try that. lol

AC full blast with windows down doing 110 mph? howabout with doors opened?

yea, how about NO! i generally avg 75mph on the highway, if im on a roadtrip, i WILL get atleast 33-35 mpg (A/C, heat, windows up or down)

I just drove mine for 1056 miles. Out of 3 tanks, the furthest I went was 383 miles before the light came on. Best MPG was 29.26 going 80 mph the whole way.

Are you sure your trunk release is really busted? There's a "switch" on it that when it's flipped the inside trunk release doesn't work. Mine "switched" itself 2 or 3 times somehow....so I'd check that first if I was you.

Happened to me about 200 times so far.

My Protege is a terrible time machine, and I hate it.

I know, mine's going to blow up any minute.

Seriously, I've been getting insane gas mileage again just like last Fall/Winter. Denser air = happier A/F mixture, I guess, and I'm learning how to keep it out of a wasteful open loop. I've got a picture somewhere from last year that shows me at 250 mi. well before 1/2 tank. Which is easily faked, but I know it wasn't. Got about 35 mpg out of that tank. I'm now getting 29-30 again in mostly city & sprited driving. I know a nice long cruise at 65-70 mph with no playing around would get me 35+ again. It's great in cool weather!

Yeah, MSP mileage is great...I get up to 36, maybe a bit more, on the highway...no driving 50 for me either =P

I got 400 or 410 miles one time...And that was on my way from ohio to SC through the mountains...doing an average of probably 80+....(thumb)

Good gas mileage is a benefit of a low pressure turbo. My long term average is around 30 mpg. I use the car for driving to/from work during a light rush hour and for having fun in the hill country. Oh, and gas is now down to $2.06 in Austin. :)

i get like 18mpg if i'm lucky. mostly, if not all in town... 220 miles when shes dropping below a 1/4 tank. The combination of a high boost msp + cold weather and a awsome tune is slightly intoxicating for my right foot.
