MSP # 962 is dead

Hello everyone,
Just thought I would let everyone know that My MSP, # 962, is gone. I had left work and was returning from home (I was on my my lunch break) at about 9:30pm on the night of May 12th, and just as I was approaching the turn in to my job, I got ran off the road going through a double S corner, the car spun a few times, hit the median, and the light pole fell on my car with wires running 400,000 volts strung all over the car. A guy two lanes over stopped to help me, but the hitters didn't even bother to stop. The car is totalled and I suffered minor bruises to my left arm, and some pain in my neck, back and hip. I'm fully recovered now except the pain in my neck comes and goes - and I had lost my memory for about 2 hours and eventually regained it while I was in the ER.
My Titanium MSP had 23,000 miles on it (bought 08/2003) and the insurance company estimated the repairs for $22,000+, and appraised the car at $18,730.53. So since the repairs were more than the worth they totalled the car. I owed the bank about $15700, and I had a $1000 deductible, so I got a check for $1942.50 after they paid off for the car. Determined to get another MSP, I called Mazda USA's headquarters and told them I wanted another one so I wanted to know of all the dealers that still have a new MSP. None were left in FL, and according to them only 10 new ones were left in the country. 1 Black Mica in Wilson, NC; 2 Silvers at Sunflower Mazda in Kansas; 2 Silvers & 1 Yellow at Luther Mazda in MN; 1 Titanium at Pugi mazda Illinois, 2 Yellows at Anaheim Mazda, CA; and 1 Orange at Sterling Mazda in MI. Turns out the Black Mica had $1800 miles going for $15900, the Kansas dealer wanted nothing but the MSRP for their 2 silvers (because according to them they had the last 2 MSPs in the country...so I hung up), and the titanium was sold a few hours before I called. Didn't really want Orange so I went for the Yellow in Cali. So my Yellow MSP (purchased for $17,995) # 962 will be shipped from Anaheim Mazda to Atlanta (My wife and I are moving to Atlanta next week to begin our first year at Emory University School of Medicine) tomorrow!!! Man I can't wait to get back in that car. Good thing I had zero mods to my titanium and I withdrew from the Ion GB cause that would have just been money down the drain. My wife and I are trying to buy a house in ATL too and we just got a call that the house deal looks like it will close so after going through hell, it looks like all will be well. Luckily we're still only 20 years old so I'm hoping to make some decent money before I get too old so that I can one day have the fastest MSP around :)

dude, glad you are okay. im glad the MSP is a safe car.
Believe me the MSP is one safe car...and I say so because in this case if I was driving any other car I've ever driven it would have turned over...but it didn't. This thing stuck to thr ground like glue man!

Thanks to everyone too for wishing me well.

goes to show the integrity of a car when it looks like that and the driver only gets minor injuries. also glad to hear that you are ok.

jeebus! glad to hear that it sounds like everything is working itself out, gl (2thumbs)

I'll chime in with my own HOLY s*** that looks bad. Glad you're ok dude.

Not to chnage the subject, but if you're gonna be in Atlanta you should come out to a meet. If you're into that sort of thing. We try to do something at least once a month. Check my sig for the next one.

Hey thanks for the invitation. I'll definitely try to come to the meet. I was driving one day here in South FL. and needed to switch lanes because of an accident and the guy in the lane beside me didn't let me in. Turns out he didn't realise I wanted to come over and he was really sorry. He followed me all the way home to apologize and told me he was the president of the South FL Mazda club and invited me to their meets (I believe Black Magic MSP goes to the meets too). Unfortunately I never went because I had to work all the nights of the meet, and now that I've turned in my resignation I don't have my car anymore so it still doesn't make sense :) But I'm definitely into the car meets. When school gets rolling though I can tell you from now that I'll get really scarce.

To be honest though guys, the car is wrecked way more than the pics will show. I didn't even know how bad it was until I saw the car at the body shop. A guy that worked for the towing company told me there was a huge rock sitting in the car with blood all over, but when he saw me and saw that i really wasn't bleeding much at all he couldn't explain it - and I can neither. I don't mean to offend anyone here but I believe in God and I believe he saved me that night. The night of the accident while I was sitting on the back of the ambulance, a lady in white walked up to me and smiled and said "An Angel was with you tonight honey" and I never saw her again. Strange but true. I plan on going into neurosurgery and I just hope I'll be able to use my saved life to help save someone else's life too. My wife's going into Cardiology btw :)

Glad you're generally alright! Hope you recover from your neck injuries quickly and enjoy ATL since you'll have a MSP waiting for ya :)

Well the funny thing is, when the tow truck took it from the tow yard to the body shop, the guy at the body shop was dumbfounded. Anyway basically the adjuster had to do an estimate for repairs for formality - ie. to justify totalling the car.
Attached is a copy of the estimate. The car will be auctioned by Sadisco Salvage Yard in Opa Locka, FL if anyone is interested. The engine is still impeccable (absolutely no damage from the wreck...ask me how, I don't know)...and 3 of the rims are still perfect. Bad thing too was, just 8 days before I bought 4 brand new Potenzas. So I lost around $700 there (including aligning)...but hey, my life wasn't lost so I can't complain right?
