Hello Vik,
We are tuning all this week in York. I would like to get to the Dyno tommorow. We will see how our day plays out today. I'll give a more detailed update tonight.
Awesome, can't wait.

NO the problem is as a STANDALONE the DASH doesn't work properly.
BUT we are close to disecting the datastream. We will then be able to duplicate the data transfer so that it will work with out the Parallel ecu in line. At this time we are mainly focused on the Parallel version for OBDII compliance.

When you say the dash doesnt work properly what does that include, all the insruments in the dash, am I thinking of the right thing?

If you're actually looking to get a FULL STANDALONE, which you would only need if you're into racing at the track, then you would need to get a new tachometer, since the stock one will probably not work. Most standalones out there will not support a stock tach. Maybe perf is going to figure it out, but like he said, it's probably the last thing on the list, after the NA parallel, FI parallel, some more tuning and maybe then a full standalone.
BTW, other things like speedometer should work cause they are mechanical and maybe some lighting not work. Like i said, most people that take their car to the track will use the standalone, but for street it's either a piggyback or a parallel.
Hope that's close to beign right.
Vik.

So the parallel unit will or will not cause problems with the Dash
from what i remember Nick saying, everything is fully fonctional except the stock tachometer. that is the only problems. So yes, your dash will work properly (with the exception of the tach, or course).

I'm so excited now that i know the numbers might come out soon =) I dream bout this thing every once in a while hehehe its in my car and im kicking everybody's ass at the track ... even though i know i'll never be able to beat those civics that can kill vettes

Im trying Matty. Its hard with so many projects. We have alot of work to do to still pay the bills everyday. I hope you understand. Soon bud..
I'm working as hard as I can to send you guys more money =P

lets attack the federal treasury and get my tax refund for me.

Alright Nick I experienced hesitation as bad as preflash today and im maaaddddd...Tune like youve never tuned before, and get this happening
Im only kidding im just excited about it so Im not trying to bust balls

i didnt think i had to specify it ... but yea =)
i was specifying it because in your first statment you had quoted someone talking about the parallel, but were saying that the tach didnt work, which is not correct. So far the tach doesnt work with the standalone, parallel works fine, IIRC

yup. long day, tired, late, wanted to go to bed ... forgot to mention THE most important detail ... lol

oh well

So, did the dyno day happen??
We didn't have time to reserve the Dyno time.
We are about ready to wrap this up. There are some little things that need some upgrading but nothing that we cant do once we are done tuning. (software changes and some harness wiring)
So after this weekend I would like to get on the dyno a few days and get some numbers out of the cars. Its been very busy so I appreciate everyones patience.

Perf, got a question that might have been asked before, but for some reason it's not registrating in my head.

I got a MIL eliminator and haven't had a CEL until yesterday, that's now 3 months since I installed it. I also noticed that with corksport exhaust they don't have a bung in their system for a o2 plug, so they used the second one that's in the S-pipe for the stock o2.
So my first question, why after all this time I pull a CEL? Did i blow a resistor?
I went into AutoZone, they scanned it and talled me it was O2 plug no activity.

They reset it and the CEL is not back yet.
Now, a question more towards the AEM, if I want the wideband option, do i need the stock one in place as well? Cause now I only have one hole in my system.

Sorry for the length, but I'm not done.
If my answer to the first question is -- that is takes time to for the ECU to realize a problem with a O2 plug, then it makes sense that my car sometimes goes fast and feels like lean, and sometimes it's sloooow and feels waaay rich.

What I'm saying is I NEED HELP WITH MY FUEL MANAGEMENT, as you can see. I want to fix these issues..
Is AEM going to help me in these areas??
If yes, my sig still stays true.

Vik.

Will the EMS allow for the user to bump up the rev limiter for more extreme applications? How long after the tuning is complete are the units going to be available for sale? Will the inital NA system be upgradable for future FI applications? Is there an extra charge for that? Thanks

Geoff

Vik,
This will be an educated guess on the MIL problem as I have not tested the vehicle nor diagnosed the problem.
By going thru what you have said I can tell you this; The stock ECU is designed and programmed to check and balance the system. The second O2 sensor is basically just like the first O2. The difference is what the ECU uses the input values for. It expects the first O2 to fluctuate or "count" many times a second. It is because of the original placement before the catalyst. It expects the second O2 to give a signal as to the effectiveness of the catalytic converter. In most cases it needs to see a differential between the two O2 sensors in accordance to the A/F ratio the ECU IS TRYING to maintain. I am not sure how or what brand of O2 MIL you have installed. If it is a type that just varies voltage in proportion to output then I can see a MIL for the above and other reasons. It would most likely set a inefficiency code. If it were a type that sets a specific voltage thruout the voltage, throttle, load range then again your same code would appear. Thirdly if you have an open circuit in the one area (being the output) and closed in the heater circuit this again will set the light.
As you can see there are many reasons for the CEL. You have to diagnose the problem on your end to make sure. A simple DVOM will help check continuity and see real time parameters so that you may figure out and eliminate or conclude at least the open circuit as the culprit.

NOW let me touch on a part of your comment about the AEM. We are thinking about and most likely deciding that the WB is NOT going to be an OPTION.
It will be MANDITORY to have with the unit. There are many reasons for this and I will go into it on another reply. Basically we will have the unit built into the AEM. All that needs to be done is to run the connector from the sensor itself thru the firewall and plug it in to the back of the AEM. Like I said I will go over alot of changes and updates in another reply this afternoon.

These past two weeks I have invited and have been visited by many members of this forum. They have been shown the units in action, played with the software and etc etc. ALL I can say again is this is the most comprehensive unit to ever come out for the Protege market. Actually it will hit many other markets as well but that is not for this thread. We have developed certain data transfer inputs and outputs from and to the ECU. The units work together for 2 seperate stages of closed loop and 2 seperate stages of open loop. IT CAN DO EVERYTHING needed to get the car running optimally and efficiently under almost ANY circumstance allowed under current law. So to answer your question YES it will solve all of your drivability problems from start to redline.
I will also address in the next reply the software changes we are working on as to inform the forum of our progress.
If there is something I havent answered yet please let me know.
