megan cat back exhaust

flat, so you think it would be a good idea to go with the Supertrapp? If i just want to get it on and done, the place that did my exhaust on my old Accord said they would charge me about $80 to go from the DP to the muffler in 3", but it wouldn't be in stainless or mandrel bent. I guess I could always redo it later in stainless and mandrel.

At 3", it shouldn't be a problem, depending on how much boost/horsepower you're running. =) I say get it done in aluminized steel or mild steel, then get it ceramic coated inside and out; It wouldn't be the cheapest way to do it, but it sure as hell would last a pretty long time! Make sure you have a section that flexes, though; You don't want it to snap a weld, for sure.

Personally, muffler wise, I would go with a Magnaflow, or some sort of stainless normal muffler, with a very simple outlet. I'll probably be chopping off my 3.5" tip on the Mazdaspeed to go for a 2.5 - 3", non rolled tip, just to give it more of a normal look. I'm more into the rally style, though, so bling isn't my big concern. =)

I would suggest a very good quality packed muffler, if you want straight through, or, if you hate having a loud exhaust at all, get a good quality baffled muffler for the back, like a Flowmaster, and a glasspack where the resonator would be. You most likely won't need a resonator, due to the nature of turbocharged exhausts, since the exhaust turbine stills quite a bit of the resonance. Are you going to have a cat, or no? If no, I would definitly suggest two mufflers, be both of them glasspack, or one glass pack and one baffled. Tip, though, is all a matter of style preference. =)

The apex DP has a flex section in it, so i should be cool with that. And I'll probably go aluminized for now and stainless later. Then it will all be stainless and that would be cool

I agree with you about flash. I'm not a big fan either. I wish the MS muffler was not rolled too. I originally wanted a flowmaster like 30, or 50 series in SS. I wanted it under the car with just a nice straight tip out the back. Dont think I'll ever get a 3" Flowmaster under there. But i might see if i can get it at the back.

No cats.
And I like the idea of the glass pack too.

I just picked up a megan catback to test fit and take sound clips. I'll let you know what's up.

Beau has a Megan on his 300+whp protege... told me it sounds amazing. Old people would stop him and tell him to rev the engine...

This thread got moved, and i stopped getting updates. wierd

I know have my exhaust done, well have for a while. Ended up going with 3" mandrel bends from summit racing, and the supertrapp. I had to do it. I love it. Sounds badass. One problem though. I went with a 2 1/2" inlet for 2 reasons.
1. the 3" inlet has a 5"outlet (kinda big)
2. the supertrapp rep told me that would be fine because i shouldnt even need 3" exhaust.

Well needless to say I do need 3". The muffler sounds great, and the turbo spools up so damn fast its not even funny. BUT...... I'd lost top end power. So I took off the end cover, to simulate if I had bought 12 more disks to make it equal to an open pipe. Sound was still really good but different, and top end power came back pretty much. So after some more math and calling around, I decided to get a 3" inlet one and sell my used for like 1 day 2 1/2" one.

On a N/A car this would be bad ass. My car at 10psi just flows so damn much.

By the way its for sale in my sig below (jacked)(I'm jacking my own thread!)

For N/A, it would probably flow a little too well. =) Have you taken a look at the exhaust ports on the FS engine? TINY AS HELL! The octopus (My header) has died, cracked in several places, so I took a look and DAMN, those exhaust ports are TINY! I'm going to open them up a touch while I'm working there, I think.

Anyway, 2.25 is pretty ample for N/A, unless you're doing a pretty crazy build for higher revs. =) You should take some exhaust clips of your new setup, though! I'd like to hear how they sound!
