Well I'm getting mine done.
After reading this post I went by my local Mazda dealership (Sansone Auto Mall in Rahway, NJ) and asked about it. He found the TSB and said he would need to see the car. I was just about due for my 10K service, so I had it done at the same time. I came back the next day for the service, and told them about the TSB and the fact that I don't like the clutch engagement.
When I got my car back I looked at the receipt and in response to my complaint they had written: "Clutch is wear in, and is normal at this time". 'Wear in' at 10K miles...right. Anyway, I complained and talked to the technician about it.
He tried to tell me that the clutch is comparable to STI's and EVO's and that this is a sports car not a Honda Civic. I told him that I got rid of my 400 RWHP Mustang because I wanted something more civilized that still had some pep, and that I drive the car every day.
They agreed to do the service, I'm just waiting on parts to come in. My car falls into the 'A' category, so I'm getting a new clutch and pedal...I hope I'm doing the right thing. The clutch is definitely a pain in the ass, but I'm nervous about them dropping the engine out of my car when it has less than 10K on it. (nailbyt)
The one thing they did tell me though was that they would not do it if the car crossed 12K miles, as then it becomes a wear item. I know that was mentioned previously, and I'm not sure how true it is, but to avoid complication if you're driving around with 11K on the clock and you want this done, I wouldn't wait.
