many things from the mp3 faq could be transfered over dexter.

should probably include:

engine specs and part #
suspension specs and part #
stereo specs and part #
aftermarket parts specific to MSP
any TSB's relating to the MSP only.

yea, that would be a start i suppose.

ahh good thinking good man. this is the kind of s*** im talking about!!

yea TheMAN would be able to help you on the TSB's along w/ some of the part numbers. Just don't borrow anything from his FAQ or he will kill.

TheMan's FAQ is gone from protegeclub.:wtf:
That makes this a great idea! [/spam]

Rishie's recipe would fit in nicely.

dah uh.. whats a mazdaspeed?, that should be the first question. then you should settle the debate behind why mazda is doing the mazdaspeed thing. also might wanna include that mazdaspeed has been around longer than the msp.. because some ppl on this forum dont seem to realize that there is mazdaspeed the performance side of mazda and then the whole mazdaspeed car line thing. (hopefully anyways, id love to see a ms6 and a msp5 and a msrx8 etc etc etc etc.

couple questions i notice that keep getting asked:

1) Q: do safc's work on our cars?
A: no, the safc can't read the maf voltage.

2) Q: what's a bpv/bov and which do we have?
A: bpv = bypass valve, bov = blow off valve, the former recirculates the air back to the intake piping AFTER the maf (this is what we have and yes, it is from an RX-7). bov's release air to the atmosphere. we can't do this without stalling issues though some people have learned how to drive to avoid stalling. that or people tighten the spring a lot which pretty much defeats the purpose of a bov. also, might as well include a link to www.blowoffvalves.com where people can listen to and see many bovs.

3) Q: who makes exhausts and where can i get them?
A: magnus motorsports has a turboback. ion performance and other shops will have catbacks/turbobacks available shortly. and yes, p5 exhausts will fit our car but you'll have to lengthen it slightly which isn't hard to do. otherwise, have one made.

4) Q: what about downpipes?
A: apex motorsports makes one but with no cat. they have an o2 simulator to go with it. other shops will have ones available shortly.

probably should also include info on the hesitation/stumble and clunk and describe exactly what it is so people new to the forum know if they have it or not and explain what's being done to fix it. and maybe we can start a review page or something where people can post a short review of their own about a particular part for the msp. and a list of exhaust recordings/bov sounds of our own might be helpful to people (if that's doable).

that's about all i can think of for now.

For more bulb size information, please visit Sylvania's Lamp Replacement Guide. The 2003 MSP is not listed, but they do have the 2002 Mazda Protege. If in doubt, take the bulb with you whenever you go to get the new ones and compare the two. Pay attention to wattage also, as a higher wattage bulb may burn the light housing or cause severe electrical damage, and we wouldn't want that now, would we?

Also, be aware of the so called "HID-look" bulbs. There have been many discussions about the effectiveness of these bulbs. The best place to read up about them before you dive in may be at Daniel Stern Lighting. His site is full of useful information regarding automotive aftermarket bulbs. Spend some time reading before buying, as lights are a *very* important part of your car; especially for the night drivers out there..

You may also want to read a post by our own AndrewSilverP5, titled "The final word on Halogen bulbs", as he has some very useful information there, as well.

When done right, modifying the car's lighting can yeild excellent results that will get you and your car attention, along with some added safety. However, when done quickly and when you're uninformed about what you're switching out, the outcome may be dangerous not only to your car, but to yourself and others on the road. Basically, just use your head.

No, really. :D

how 'bout general turbo info. seems like too many people don't know what that snail looking thing under their hood even does.

^^^
That should definitely go down there...but obviously we have to back it up with reasoning and make sure that people understand what they are getting.

Another question, which really hasn't come up too often, is if you can replace the bypass valve with another one. This could be part of the BOV vs BPV discussion. The answer, so far as I can tell, is that you can replace it with another. Some have used a turboXS and I am looking into one for a V-dub/Audi/etc by either Bailey or Forge. (The forge is cheaper...) I'll update with what I can find out about these.

Dex, you may want to double check the bulbs I've posted. I got most of the info searching around here, but I know for sure that the parking lights were wrong. Just be sure to double check it before you officially post it. I'll see what I can dig up.

I'll also try and remember some of my old questions..
