i just called cobb, there running 255/35/18s with a flared out fender and there cobb suspension, which i was planning on getting anyways, so that would work. the wheels are 8.5 width with a 52 mm offset, hard to find, and if i do, probably pricey. but hoosier makes the street slicks for 255/40/18s. that would definately give me traction

hah i know, i dont want comp tires anyways, theyll wear out like a mother. i heard the bfg kdw 2s are a good street tire, especially 255s

i ran bfgs on all of my old cars very good tires and they actually will last awhile. man its going to be some serious $$$ to get 255 on that car. do u have a bankroll like cobb??? (boom04)

it is nice to hear about a project car Matt. the mazdaspeed does have alot of potential. Some folks have been trying to work around the ecu for awhile and had a fair amount of difficulty even with alot of effort. Tuner steve has a good point about the standalone I think. but I believe many many hours of tuning will be a great learning experience for you. since you are young and eager to learn I think that is great. I would like to run the 505 hp vettes myself but our car is quite heavy as a street car. I am trying to get a nice balance between chassis and power to have a gt style car and it is going rather well although slow as I am also learning about forced induction and tuning. And I am happy with my project. I hope you are able to get your car quite fast and keep you and your car safe! Good luck

What is the point of running big wheels and tires. It seems that a softer compound is a good way to increase traction without gaining weight? I am willing to learn. But I cannot spin third anymore with a tire compound upgrade. Still chirps though!!

well i already brought out the fact im trying to get a good deal on a fmic for everyone but no one has shown alot of interest but i am working a "friend" in md for a tuning device

AAM, the guy from cobb said all it is done to make the 255 fit is their stage 2 suspension (sway bars and springs) 590$ and they flared the fenders inward a bit, which cant be too much.

i meant with rims and tires as well, and btw my name is matt too

to be honest i think 255 is just a tad to much, im going 235 with some really sticky rubber and i dont think that should be a problem

the tires are 500 for two, and the volk rims cobb has are expensive but im sure i could find 2 18 x 8.5s for not too much. but even though u dont believe me, if i do pull 400 at the wheels, i think im gonna need the 255s lol unless it wont make too much of a difference
