Mazda replacing MSP HU's?

I heard a dirty rumor that the 919 HU in the MSPs is discontinued.

Mine was swipped while my car was at the dealer for service (yeah, nice I know) so now I'm wondering - does mazda have more of these sitting around somewhere that they will use, or are they going to have to get me something else?

anyone had to have one replaced lately?
oh - or I suppose option #3 - they cut me a check based on the retail value and I buy myself a new one?

Exactly what Progressive did for me ~3 weeks ago.

My display crapped out, can't adjust radio stations or CD settings, HU on back order from dealer, they claim it will be replaced under warranty when it arrives...ETA two months...makes selling the car harder..

i'm on my second and it's starting to crap out, i'll call my insurance company if it does, or i'll have someone at mazda on the phone just begging to wait on me hand and foot (hah.)

WTF are you going to call your insurance company for?
It wasn't stolen, go to Mazda and get another one.

Still waiting @ 2weeks for mine. Dealer says they have 2 others on order. ARGGGGGG!!! I HATE not having a stereo...all I hear is rattle rattle squeak squeak.

I believe they are replacing them with refurbished units.

a refurb item after it was stolen? that would blow

another question - the dealer claims no liability for anything that happens on their lot, despite the fact that my non-running car was taken there according to my warranty road-side assistance, so they telling me to file an insurance claim.

I called the mazda usa general CSR number and they said that is essentially a local policy decision, as the dealerships are independently owned and opporated. so is there any recourse there? I understand that they have "no liability" signs up all over the place, but it seems absurd that they can have it towed to their lot as a provision of my warranty, but then I'm screwed if anything happens to it while its there.

I'm on my 3rd week of waiting. I don't blame mazda though, I blame kenwood. They're the ones who cant get the refurbs done fast enough, and wont send a suitable replacement. Hell they could send me a crappier unit at this point. I just want my tunes back.

I've been waiting about 1.5-2 weeks, and I just received noticve that my unit is in today. Will have to go in tomorrow morning to get it, I'm assuming it will be the same unit as before, but I'm crossing my fingers for an updated model, lol.

well unfortunately or fortunately for me, it looks like I am stuck going through my insurance company on this, since the dealer is claiming no liability or coverage.

so now I'm looking at buying a replacement - anyone have recommendations? I'd like to stick to something with MP3 and XM capablility but I haven't shopped for a car stereo in years.

You mean sirius, not xm. Our stock Kenwoods didn't come xm ready.

Alpine.

yeah go for alpine but remember to take the faceplate off when left on the street or somewhere secluded!

well right - I wasn't meaning to infer a brand loyalty, just the sat capability.

I've looked at the alpine mp3 headunits today, but I don't particularly care for their appearance. I'll try to roll over to someplace local that carries them here today or tomorrow and see if I like them better in person.

Got my new one in this morning.

Funny story, when I brought it in for repair, the dude hadn't ever seen our radio before, and he was like "Um, did we install that for you?!" So I tell him it is the stock radio for mazdaspeeds, and I go on to explain that the display does not light up, and it sits in the cd loading position. The whole time I'm explaining this I have the faceplate in my hand. He looks down at it and he says "oh, so the front of the radio fell off then?" (hand)

Oh and they wanted to deny warranty work because of "aftermarket parts" on my radio (a kenwood auxillary input for my portable mp3 player). I told them that had nothing to do with the problem since the real problem is the flat cable that wears out after flipping so many times. So I got it done under warranty in the end and I'm happy.

I took the car in Saturday, told them it was ******, they called Wednesday night, it was in..along with the brakes that wore out way before they should have...and because the pads where so worn, they overheated and warped my rotors....800fucking pennies later...grar. I love my car so much, but sometimes I just need to shake my head, and call her a bad girl...then I drive her, and ignore the rattling and clunking and squeking and take an on-ramp at 3 times the recomended limit..and I just want to hug her again....*sigh of affection here*...I was hoping for a new improved unit..but it sounds like I'm gettin a refurb*slaps thigh*..ahh well, tunes will be back, that's all that bothers me.

A question though, I have a CD in it that won't come out, will they be able to get it out for me, or am I gonna have to say goodbye to my CD that I really want back?
