I'm new on here, and an busily trying to get my P5 into winter-mode, as our weather here in Alaska has been s*** to say the least. . .
First on the agenda is tires, as the all-seasons that the PO had are next to worthless. I also want to get a much ground clearance as possible to try to make it a bit less draggy in the snow.
So what is the maximum sidewall height people have tried running on a 16" stock wheel? I found a good deal on 195/60/16 Blizzaks, which sound like they SHOULD fit, but I don't want to do damage to the ABS system, or rub excessively in the rear.
195/60 is around 6.5% different in circumference, and would net me about 3/4" (which is significant) of clearance.
I realize it will throw off the weight dynamics a bit raising the center of gravity, but I drive conservatively in the winter, and just need as much help as I can getting through the snow and ice.
Not that it makes any difference, but it currently has 205/55/16s that are running with zero issues (other than generally sucking), so I'm thinking the additional 1.3% in circumference shouldn't hurt?
Thoughts?
