The Ford finally comes out...below/behind license plate. What a crock of sh&t paint. I haven't looked yet but I pray for the sake of Mazda USA that this is covered under a corrosion protection warranty. The car is 2 years old with 23k miles. I simply cannot believe it. I take care of it and this is what I get (pissed)

Mazda is known for soft paint. At least the ones I've owned. It looks like you plate was rubbing there. Good Luck.

Good observation..Thanks. I don't think luck has any role in this unfortunate manufacturing defect.

you should have put adhesive backed foam behind your plate so it wouldent rub......
I shouldent (lawl) have to apply anything to my license plate to avoid corrosion. A great tribute to vw/audi build quality is a 10yr 100,000 mile corrosion warranty. I know Mazda isn't up to par with fine German engineering but at least they are willing to take some responsibility in this respect.

Seriously...was your plate touching there?......What you think paint is like invincible ?...lol...geez
For real?? you're an idiot, obviously the license plate was touching because that is where the license plate goes on the car. After owning a Chrysler I know that paint is not invincible, especially in PA weather. But even that was after 10 years, in the lower fender corners near the wheel wells. Typical for all 10+ yr old cars. This is not your usual Honda cancer. Apparently the last 10 years of my autobody/mechanical experience deceives you.

All of your idiocies aside, I'll be taking it to the dealership tomorrow morning to have them verify it's corroding from the inside out. I'm so glad I could share my trials an tribulations of Mazda ownership only to face subordinate persecution. You all fail cars 101. Now go install some excessive l.e.d.'s somewhere on your poor car. /sarcasm

You should put something that wouldn't rub against the paint. The flow of air actually comes back in that area and pushes against the plate.

But yes one of Mazda flaws is poor paint. I was waxing my cr today and I notice the "orange peel". It was pretty bad.

im not disagreeing with you. i have 20k on my odo and i have more paint chips then i did on my benz that had 120k when i sold it....

from the pictures it just looks like dirt buildup that needs to be clayed out...

is it bubbling? i cant tell from the pictures.

Well for 1.....please remove all the sand from your vagina....

2...your the one that came on the forums complaining about something YOU DID to your paint...KNOWING THAT THE PAINT IS NOT PERFECT ON A MAZDA...yet you still decided to let your plate ride on the paint. Your years of autowhatever experience have failed you in the brain department obviously. And third...no LED's on this 323...but it'll outdo your tank anyday of the week.

Update: I contacted my local dealer Monday, stopped in early Tuesday morning so the Service Manager could have a look at it. Now I have to wait for the Mazda rep to come look at it.

In the mean time, I stopped at the hardware store and got some s.s. fasteners and 3m foam tape to back the plate. Not that it will make a difference now...I would still like it to be fixed.

Washing it this weekend I uncovered a few more rock chips up front, down to the metal. It happens.

It is bubbling. I'm claybarring the car for the first time tonight if this is the way it's going to be, so be it, I'll put so much wax on that thing bird s*** will slide right off.

spermone, I didn't 'do' or neglect to do anything with this car that normally would be done with any other vehicle. I had no prior knowledge of the IMPERFECT PAINT issue. Doubtfully so, I vested this car would be solid and fun to drive, which it is in most regards. It definitely has potential. But I shouldn't have to worry about the thing rusting at only 2 yrs.

......all they see is 1992......its all good...lol...i dont get butthurt on forums (cabpatch)
You guys are too cool for the int3rweb..."Like omg my bff's car is soooo fast! teh-he"...Actually I have no clue what you are gtx'ing about...so, who gives a fawk? The point of this thread is about premature corrosion.

guys. knock it off.
Hey any 6club meets this weekend?? I'll be in Euclid beginning tomorrow for a wedding...Steelers shirt and all (ughdance)

I've ALWAYS put a strip of ONE-sided padded sticky tape on the back of the plate. Try that, you will NEVER have that problem again.
