LSD not safe at what Boost Levels?

Does anyone have any experience on what kind of increased boost levels the stock LSD can be safe with on the msp's, please? I know it depends on the kind of driving one does, but, if it's a semi aggressive driving, weekend racer type of situation, just curious to know if anyone knows, thanks!

.. There doesn't seem to be a true answer for your question, unfortunately. Some MSP's never have LSD problems, even at increased boost, while others have problems when their MSP's are stock.

It's just a gamble.

someone has a quote from another member in their sig, it goes something like...

"The msp isn't a car that breaks at specific numbers. It just goes whenever it feels like it."

mine broke on stock boost.

how did you find out it's broke and what were you doing when it broke?

Do you run your car aggressively on shifts and take offs most of the time?

What did you do to fix the LSD, please?

Thanks!

I found out mine was broken when the car wouldn't move anymore. I was just going into first gear when it happened.

I don't run my car aggressively at all.

I took it to the dealer and let them fix it. After we had a talk about if an CAI was the upgrade that caused the damage (ha that still makes me laugh)

That might be me. I love my car, but he was unfortunately right on the money.

FWIW, my LSD went at completely stock boost, at 32k miles, and with very easy driving for the most part. When it popped I had just turned into my neighborhood in 1st gear at about 8 mph, lol.

you don't need to spend 1400+ on a Quaife when there is this;

granted yes, there is a performance difference. but i have never had one break under any circumstances. turfburn has been using this unit on his car for over a year and is pushing over 300 horsepower on it daily.

^ this is what i was gonna buy *if* mine wasnt fixable. basically what my setup is now... :)

& i dont know what changing the lsd out would have to w/ the speedo? i would think it wouldnt hurt.. but i dunno?

I have a welded one. Works fine. Only had it in the car about a month now on around stock boost for a MSP but higher HP numbers. They are pretty tough. The only broken welded LSD i've heard of was superprotege. But even then he had like 60 runs at the drag strip with slicks and was also a daily driver.

I hate reading threads like this..... they scare me. I haven't had my LSD break and i'm at 38k miles which seems to be the breaking point for most I have seen.

on regular proteges the speedometer is driven by a plastic speedometer gear and sensor. the gear is mounted to the differential. on the msp the speedometer is driven by the wheel speed sensors.

mine will probably break sometime soon as well, im at 38K. good thing i have a work truck and only drive the msp on the weekends(first)
