Lowered MSP with Tein Springs, now it feels "floaty"?

:
Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
I just recently had my MSP lowered on Tein springs and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that the Teins are either softer spring rate wise than the Racing Beat springs, or maybe I'm going crazy? With the Racing Beat springs I was feeling every little crack in the road and it was tracking all over the place, but I kinda liked that. Now with the Tein's on it honestly feels kinda sloppy until I actually get into a turn, then it feels nice. Is this because I haven't had my alignment yet? I hope so, because I'd hate to think the Tein's have a less sporty feel to them than the Racing Beat springs. Thanks for any advice, and here is a pic to get some views.

i believe teins have progressive spring rates in the back. and thats why it feels softer.

ive heard the teins def feel softer than mp3/ msp suspension. so you arent alone.

The softness you feel is misleading. The front rate of the Teins is stiffer than the Racing Beat Springs. However, the rear is less.

Tein is the master of creating suspension systems that offer a good ride and don't sacrafice handling. Their coil-overs are the same way too. Meanwhile, there's JIC who creates some of the best handling, but it comes with a filling-loosening ride.

Anyhow, like uclap5 said. You aren't alone. Some love the Teins, and some don't because the ride is too soft. I hope, you can learn to love it too. (Because it would suck to have to swap them back out. lol) But, worry not, you have not sacraficed your handling. Well at least not too much.

Here's the specs:

Tein Spring Rate:
Front - 3.2 kg/mm
Rear - 2.6 kg/mm
Racing Beat:
Front - 2.59 kg/mm
Rear - 2.10 kg/mm

you have to also figure tein figured these springs in for regular protege sedans and the p5 wagon even before the mp3 and msp came out. they're noticeably softer then the racing beats but some buyers just want the lowered ride and could care less about handling. *shrug* go figure. not to mention the struts were valved specifically for the racing beat spring rate specs.

Thanks for the help guys, this makes me feel better. I commute so it actually feels more comfortable, I just thought maybe the guys who put em on forgot to tighten something, hahah. I love the look, that pic was from the first day they were on, so it still needs to settle a bit. I guess I still should get an alignment though, but the camber isn't off at all to the naked eye. BTW, that is some kind of tree flower leaves on the 'stang, wish it was poop though(rockon)

Thanks man, I'm gonna have to try to make the next meet in the area and I'll have test drives for everyone, hahah. BTW, Agile installed them, they are starting to grow on me(rockon)

Just a little correction here, please see this link for further info on the S-Tech Spring rates. This topic was heavily discussed in other threads. I'm not sure about the MSP Springs, but I know for certain that the MP3 springs were said to have been stiffer than the MSP's. For more info
Read this thread. For the S-Tech spring rates in lb-ft read the spring rates on Tein's Website. I hope this can help a little. But from my personal experience with the S-Techs on my MP3, I know that they are softer on than the MP3 Springs.
