LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

Dam if that's true then he could gain a few seconds in the 1/4 mile times just by cleaning out his truck becuase we all know Linux has enough tools and parts in his car to do a complete rebuild on a Protege!!! (headbang)

Just one example: we are getting ready to go to Yashooa house and we pull into a gas station to get gas and Linux rolls up with Steam just billowing out and he jumps out and says "no biggie just blew a coolant line on my turbo, let it cool down and I be back up and running in 10 minutes!!!"

well car cools down Linux pops trunk and pulls out replacement parts and tools needed for said job and replaces bad hose and goes into store buys a gallon of water, fills the car back up and TA'DAAA he ready to go !!!!(headbang) (headbang) (headbang)

Becuase he finally started to believe in himself again... I was always like why did you have somebody else tune your s***? when you know a large part of peoples tuning skills on this forum, came from your own expereinces that we read off of this forum!

I was like you need to retune that ******* blow-torch of a tune and make s*** right. I said why in the hell are you not the fastest in DFW? becuase you don't have the right tune, that's why!!!

You should have heard Patricks laughs when he got done with that tune and took us for rides, Shear Bursts of true emotional Joy!!!! I think more becuase he realized agian that he truly has GOOD tuning capabilities...

and for the fact, with the old tune he had, I could ask him to bring his car over becuase I had some welding to do... hahahahahahah

I also initially strongly desired someone to help me do this so I could watch and learn. Just reading online is really no replacement for experience for tuning. It greatly helped getting that initial tune done at the dyno. In my case, the guy told me what to do, and I did it. From there I was able to refine things a bit.

I keep a bag of tools in my car as well, btw...

That's not the only thing that I have that's bigger, and I'm not talkin about the stomach or ass either!!!!(evil)

Nah, I have since cleaned it out. As a matter of fact, I cleaned it after that dyno day. Then while doing some work at Beau's shop last week, I needed something that I used to have in there and was like DAMMIT!!!! It is nice to cary a "reasonable" amount of things in the trunk, but I had way too much. Like a full set of brakes for all 4 wheels, pieces of metal to make heat shields, tools out the ass and then the basics. I definatly gained a tenth or 2 by removing that stuff. But if I go on a long trip, the tool kit goes back in!!!

During the move, my cooler leaked some melted chocolate ice cream (the cover broke) so I had to pull out everything and clean it up, so there's nothing in there, now. My only extra weight is my child seat in the back.

Well, here is the latest update..

Tonight, I did a few runs around my neighborhood. That ended in me getting my car to rev even better! So what prompted all this? On the way home, just as I was getting into my neighborhood there was this silver V6 Mustang (pre-2005) that was in front of me. I got behind them, and they took off. I would take off too and just catch them without downshifting..lol! So we get to a stoplight, and turn left. He takes off, but slows down as I was speeding up, so I shot past him. I slowed down, and went to 2nd gear. He lined up, and took off, and so did I. He was right next to me. As I shifted to 3rd, he jumped a fender, but as soon as I got into 3rd, I pulled it all back, and when I shifted to 4th, I pulled a car on him before I had to shut it down. If the road had been longer, ownage was emminent for the Mustang...lol! Well, during all this, I noticed at the top of my RPM range, that I had a flat spot where my accelleration would fall off, and my tach needle would get sluggish. I circled back and did a run, and noticed that I got a slight cracle, and my A/F ratio was too rich. Hmmm.. could being too rich be causing me some pre-ignition? You bet! I had spent all that time doing my ignition, that I had neglected to pay attention to the fuel map. So another run was done, and I watched my RPM's, my widband, and felt for the bogg and the cracle. Got it! after 5500, and right before 6000 RPM's, I get way rich, and get the flat spot. At about 63 kPa (9 PSI), I took out 2% of fuel at the 5500 and 6000 RPM ranges, and 1% at 6500 RPM's. Then I took out 1% for 73 kPa at the same RPM ranges. Damn! I went for another run, and it PULLED across the RPM wall it was at previously without a problem. My exhuast actually woke up a little up top! Reminded me of a quiet S2000! Looking at my wideband, I would hit 12.2 on my A/F max, and it would level off just below 12. I'll post up the file and picture later.

I noticed in that range that I had to do a pretty significant decrease in fuel as well. I'm not sure what it is about the engines, but the dyno was showing very clearly that I was getting rich there, too.

The latest..

My timing now drops to 22 degrees at the lowest point IN boost now. My BEGI side mount intercooler can't handle it over 10-11 PSI without detonation. Below are the pictures of my fuel map, two pictures of the ignition (one zoomed in, and the other zoomed out), and the Map file.

I run roughly the same for timing... bit more in a lot of cases... but yeah... mid to high 20's in boost at 10-13 psi.

Linux... you can compensate for the intercooler size with water injection... can in some cases nearly double the size of the IC with W/I. If I run out of headroom on my IC then I'm going to add the injection... BTW... what is the size on your IC?

You know, maybe I could just convert my windshield washer fluid resoviour to a IC sprayer instead?

Hey,

Hit me with your map for comparison if you are so inclined to do so.

I am not sure how this can happen.

Improvement in overall efficiency of the system... you reduce the temperature of the system with the water injection or alter the octane slightly with alcohol injection and the combination can be equivalent to a much larger IC>.. it has been done and proven that a single WI system can match or exceed the performance of a single air to air front mount intercooler... that was all my point was.

Well, I went for another drive last night, and again, my BEGI SMIC is KILLING ME!! The intake temps went up to 55 c (131 F)! (flame) When that happened, *PING!* Steve, what are you intake air temps like. I actually got out and felt the hot side of my IC, and it was HOT! The cold side was pretty warm. This was only at 10-11 PSI.

Pat, your IC sucks... PDH's charge temps are 35C in ambient 95F on the highway, and about 43C while idleing in the same heat
