I'm typically not a fan of Miata's because of the Miata attitude towards all FWD Mazdas, but I really like her N/A's. They are stripped down to the bare essentials and she's not snobby about owning them. I just get a snobby vibe from a lot of Miata owners. But I'm not gonna open that can of worms in here.

Uh huh... Too late.

Phen, don't you have your own build thread you can play in? Anyway...

Yesterday was an absolute BLAST at the auto-x! The car performed well, not so much for the driver. I'm sure I had the slowest time of any class, but I improved each run by about 3 seconds so that's good. I'm still learning. I'm signed up for two more auto-x'es this month. :)

But the P5 made the 2 hours trek out there, not a single hitch on the track for my 3 runs and the 2.5 hour trek back like a champ.

Thanks again to Marc, Corey and AJ for all their help and guidance. Can't wait to do it again on the 16th!

It's Jess's (xelar8 or something like that) and it's pretty sweet. I'll ask her to post some pics. She's building an LS6 swapped NA as well. She's pretty freaking awesome, not gonna lie.

XCLR8TN = accelerating lol, easy to remember like that!

I'd post pics but my work blocks Photobucket. Maybe later when I go home... but I was reserving that time to putting the V8 with tranny in for the test fit of the tranny!

The white one is pretty simple. Take one $800 '90 Miata with a rebuilt salvage title (someone hit something in the front a long time ago), mix with the OEM 1.6 engine (originally had a Nissan motor in it when I bought it), take out EVERYTHING in the interior including ALL HVAC parts, steal coilovers from the other non-functioning Miata, put in safety (rollbar), and go drive the piss out of it. Which is what I did Saturday at Nelson Ledges. Good times.

saw you topped off the coolant, FWIW the car has toyota red (not pink) coolant in it if you ever need to replace it

Jess, how did it go saturday?

Korey, thanks for the heads up. All I have is green coolant in the garage so I just added straight water. It's really nice knowing all the previous work done on the car if/when I have questions. (2thumbs)

Since I deleted my cruise control I've been getting a weird CEL. I deleted my CC on my old P5 without any problems. Ivan checked it with his scan tool and it says for a MAP sensor, but we don't have a MAP sensor, silly. I'm sure it's just a lame CEL because of that but it's still annoying.
Actually, Proteges do have MAP sensors, but not in the traditional Honda-engine-management sense. The MAP sensor is actually for the EGR valve. It senses the pressure changes associated with the EGR valve opening and closing to confirm its operation. Its connector is over where you CC used to be located so it's entirely possible you got a little overzealous with the connections and disconnected one too many.

Yup, that's exactly what I did. There's a vacuum line on the passenger side of the IM going to a solenoid that I removed and capped. I'll plug it all back in tonight. Thanks, Jon.

Funny story, I was on my way home Sunday from Toledo on the turnpike doing about 80mph in the right lane (of 3 lanes) and a deer was creeping towards the highway. There was another car about 500feet behind me. So I checked my rearview mirror, hit my hazard lights and brakes and started honking the horn like crazy. I would have flashed the lights but the HID's don't have a high-beam. It scared the deer and he ran back into the woods. But the stupid car that was behind me was right on my ass honking at me for hitting my brakes even though he had the whole bloody highway to change lanes and no other traffic! I put the window down and yelled "DEER!" and he just scoffed at me and sped up. Sorry, guy. But I like my car and didn't want to kill myself. heh-heh.

Some people just don't get it, do they? I would have done the same exact thing. Only difference is I would have added ASSHOLE after I yelled deer. lol!

Here you go, before I touched up the peeling white paint, painted the rollbar, and got stock seats lol:

I still don't know why you want these in YOUR build thread hahaha

I like build threads regardless of what cars they are. I like seeing the progress and work being done.

But you sold the white one?!

My sister drove it around the track Saturday and loved it, so now it's her track toy. Cheaper than her s2k, as far as parts and especially if she wrecks it. The mustang is her bf's, he is the organizer of the events... Owns the business.

Fixed :D

Lol ok now back on topic. Evan, the car looked great at the auto-x. I know you were just as worried as I was about getting lost like so many people did haha

^ lol, it is alot to process the first few times,

i remember (no names mentioned) but one of the old Pitt crew guys actually did turn the wrong way and went off course the first time he autocrossed hahaha
