Lewis7789 MS6 GT build thread

Little update:

My Braille battery has slowly been loosing it's charge and I needed a jump a couple times from friends so yesterday was the last straw and I went back to the OE battery.

I got a strut bar from CR3 for a great deal. I know the strut towers are so close to the firewall they're regarded as a useless mod for these cars but after taking it off to replace the battery, then driving around for a day and putting it back on I can notice a little difference in steering. I'll take it off this weekend and wrinkle black everything, I hate shiny bits.

I also installed the Redline hood props with the help from my friend Dave and they work great. Will be much nicer at auto-x between runs when I'm constantly popping the hood to show off the NASA heat tape on the intercooler piping. Lulz.

I really need to paint my intake manifold though...

Had a great time at PittRace track-cross yesterday with the Meeps. Car is handling great and running well. I love these new tires (Hankook RS-3 V2). There was a fully track prepped STi there running 43 second laps. My fastest of my 8 runs was a 43.3 so I was happy with that time and heading home. Very excited for the track day at Mid-Ohio September 1st.

I sold the Corbeau FX1's to a local friend with an MS6 and bought one Sparco Evo2. Oh man, SO much nicer and well worth the money. I can already tell and I haven't even had it on the track yet. I also got the Corbeau mounting bracket with double locking slider and Sparco side mounts. The Corbeau slider won't fit with the side mounts so I measured 15 times and drilled four holes to bolt the Sparco right to the mounting bracket. It's in a fixed position but no one really drives my car any so no worries.

I like the new seat! It looks very supportive. How comfortable is it?

Now all you need is a roll cage and a racing harness!

It's very supportive, much more so than the Corbeau. The Corbeau's shoulders were way too wide for me so while my bum and thighs would be planted my torso would slide side to side. And the OE MS6 seats are just terrible. So it feels pretty good. Thankfully I got it mounted in a good position too since it's all bolted in without the slider. haha

The plan is at least a 4-point roll bar and harness for 2015.

Very nice! Looking forward to those upgrades. I agree, the OEM MS6 seats are bad lol.

Ever tried stock crv seats? ms6 oem seats feel like fluffy supportive pillows compared to those. srsly.

Had a great weekend at Mid-Ohio this weekend. We had a huge Mazda turnout so it was nice to hangout with friends between sessions. Once again, a huge thank you to THE Will Dodd for being an epic instructor and helping me push the car and my confidence harder and harder. Car felt great and I think I'm slowly starting to get the hang of how the car feels under cornering and hard braking. Fastest lap was a 1:49.05 and I was finally keeping my foot in the throttle on the back straight and brakes felt great with the HP+ pads. I think I can even brake harder/later but in due time. Baby steps.

Thanks to Nathan Peterson Photography for the pic;

your setup looks sweet, i really dig your MS6 (prius repellent and all) What size wheels / tires are those? any spacers sitting pretty flush.

Thanks, mate. My car is ugly but she runs well and handles great. My current wheels are 17x9 +45 offset w/ 255/40-17 tires. I had to grind down about 1mm off the front calipers to make them clear and my rear quarter panels were cut out due to rust. No rubbing and no spacers. I'm very happy with these wheels/tires.

I picked up an AutoPower "street-sport" roll bar from Ted in C-bus for a stupid good deal. And he threw in some red G-Force 6 point harnesses for a great deal too. Along with the stock MS6 front splitter and downpipe. Very excited to install the roll bar and harnesses for the next track event. My friend said he would weld it in for me. But then I realized I still need the back seat for my bass cabinet for gigs so the search for a decent used Mazda3/6 before winter begins so Fatty doesn't see anymore winters.

Here's a stock photo of the roll bar.

Also planning on re-dipping the car white before winter.

Goes hardcore... forgets he needs the car for other reasons. Seems legit. :-P

Just kidding brutha!

You might as well shut your ***** mouth as well, MonkeyAss.

Hey, I almost bought a Miata as the DD. haha. But I am trying to find a Mazda3 hatch (not a Speed) or a Mazda6 with a manual to buy in October/November. And will just keep it stock. I know if I bought a Miata I would mod it and be twice as broke as I already am.

How'd that work out last time?

the answer is somewhere in this thread....

LOL. Everyone gang up on Evan morning.

All things considered, if a current scheme that I'm working on goes well, I'm gonna have even less room to talk than I already do.

All of you jive turkeys can shut your collective ***** mouths. :D
