Issue with Brake warning lights

Thinking about another Mazda...
My ABS and parking brake warning lights display after not driving the car for several hours (i.e. on my way to work and home from work). If I turn the car off and immediately restart it, they go away.

I just had the car at the mechanic for some new pads and to bleed the brake system. Apparantly my parking brake wasn't properly disengaging from the left wheel, so they adjusted that so it wouldn't drag anymore. I will eventually need a new cable.

I had the issue with these lights before I brought the car in, and I assumed it was because I needed new pads. With new pads on and fresh fluid, I guess that isn't the case.

It was raining tonight, so I tested the ABS on an empty stretch of road, and they seemed to work fine. I also checked the ABS fuse, which looked fine to me.

Do you think it is just the issue with the parking brake I mentioned above? Any ideas? I hope I don't have to take it back for this and start replacing random ABS components just to shut those lights off. Also, if there were actually a problem, why would turning the car off and restarting make the lights go away?

Thanks

It is definitely something with the ABS. I tested the brakes again this morning, this time with the warning lights on, and the wheels locked. I know this sounds obvious, but I was hoping it was just an electrical problem with the warning lights and wasn't tied to the brake system. I still find it weird that restarting the car temporarily solves the issue. Oh well, back to the garage...

I had the same problem and it was a faulty ABS sensor - just have the code read to be sure.

Just saw the neighborhood mechanic today; their diagnostic equipment couldn't find any error codes, yet the damn light is still on. Looks like it is time to escalate this to the stealership :'(
