High power to weight ratio is what drives a car obtaining a sports car surcharge. That is not an issue for the MSP.
All other things being equal, the original cost new (OCN) of a particular car is what makes the difference in premium.
But in the real world all things are not equal. Your zip code, driving record, credit rating, age, usage and coverage amounts in addition to the OCN if you carry physical damage coverages are what goes into determining your final premium.
all depends on the insurance company, i had one that listed it like a normal protege for insurance purposes and one that has it listed at the MS version.. $2 difference in price.. haha

Beleave it or not it was cheaper for me to get mroe coverage and a lower deductable then to just get that standard for full covereage witha 500 deductable... makes no sense to me. Well let me rephrase that it was only 1 buck more a month to drop it down to a 250 decutable for both my car and truck
Mine is extremely cheap, on the policy is says Protege SE, which I assume is special edition, I actually checked it against a p5 policy is it was the exact same. Then I double checked the VIN to make sure they didn't make a mistake. LOL
my insurance company lists it as a four door sedan, even when they found out it has a turbo since it was factory installed they still called it four door sedan
