Sorry if i am talking about something old. I haven't been around lately so I dont know what has been talked about. And yes, i am to lazy to look through all the threads......Anyways I hope all you mazda owners are haveing a great summer.........I just had the cold air intake from injen installed in my mp3 last week.......Anyone else have the same intake.....I just want to hear what others think about it......I think it looks awsome and has a good sound to it......As i drive it more and more i do feel a better response when i mash the peddle........

I have it on my P-5....I love the way it looks...and feels as well....I installed it about 5 months ago....and dont' regret it for a second.

Thanks nuke......I do agree with you......It is one of the better looking cold airintakes i have seen.....eventhough all that matters is the production of the intake not looks........I have seen so many boring intakes for cars.......Plus after reading lots of articles about intakes it seem the most power comes from injen cold airintakes......

to be honest...I have yet to see a true comparison...one in which they dyno a stock car with the stock intake on it....then do the same test with each of the different popular intakes in a controled test where the air temp and humidity are kept the same.....

so I am not so sure that the Injen makes the best power....however....I am not in it for ONLY performance....the looks do count for something as well....I like to lift the hood and have it all shiney and with a little WOW factor thrown in there for good measure.

Best Price I've found for Injen CAI

www.Adventon.com has the Injen CAI RD6060P (polished) for $199.11.
As a comparison protege5online still sells it for 250.00+.

Just some semi-useful info for interested consumers.

I was thinking about letting my MHP go for an Injen, but the Carbon Fiber has grown on me. I do like how the Injen fits right in with no rubbing. I just wish they made one in Hyper Black or something darker.

MHP News

I just called MHP. They have discontinued the MP3 CAI. They said it was poor sales. So I opted for the Injen. I was leaning that way anyhow. Injen seemed a better engineered product.

Some Injen questions

Hi folks, could you please answer some of my Qs about the Injen Intake? Just got mine installed yesterday evening, but not without some baffling results that I couldn't really remember reading from these forums.

1) The tube is hot to the touch after normal driving, normal? I just wanted to double check with you folks.

2) The VIBRA-MOUNT is suppose to give way to some movement from the intake? How much movement would you say? One finger should be able to push the tube easily side-to-side?? Just not too freely for it to touch any part of the car (i.e. fender hole), right?

3) The filter head that comes with the Injen intake... uhmm it's more porous than the OEM air filter ... I can visually see through the filter I think... why is all that okay? ... say if you drive through a dusty road... city, etc?? Will any of the sand blowing around ... dust or dirt small enough to get through the filter be harmful??

4) The coolant reservoir that had to be moved to a different location. I read couple instructions by people and Injen's that said a 4rth hole 1/4" big needed to be drilled through. Not necessary, right?? Even if you do drill that extra hole, you are just bolting ONE single bolt through the bracket to the car anyways.... right?? Without drilling extra holes, I just played with the bracket location and existing holes to match where the reservoir could fit without touching the intake tube.

The question is, with only one bolt attached and the way the reservoir location is currently re-arranged at...

the bracket is flipped around (I don't mean upside down) from original style where the reservoir bottle is hanging on the outside (closer towards the radiator), away from the fender well hole....

the bottle now shakes a lot when engine is running. It's bolted on there tight and I don't think it will fall off the way it is... but just looking at how it rattles (during idle) when I popped the hood to take a peek is annoying. Any tips or suggestions as to how I could improve on that? I COULD drill another hole, etc... but anyway to do it without drilling? I may not have the right size bit for it ... that's why I want to avoid drilling. Or is this the best I can expect out of the whole process?

Injen included two twist brackets, I just used one for the sensor part (it's a sensor of some kind, right?? :D) near the throttle. So I still have one more twist bracket laying around which is SUPPOSE to be used for modifying the coolant reservoir relocation against the radiator area... Unfortunately, I really couldn't find a way to use the twist bracket to hook up to the bottle....

5) Sorry, no pictures ... but the install isn't that different from what most people have done. Thanks for your kind help here! :D
