Indiglo Install?

These are just overlaying the stock gauges right?? When I took the cluster apart it didn't seem kosher to cut the stock faces. It also doesn't seem right that it would glow blue just laying them on top. What's up??

Also, zooom,
When inserting the other 2 faces (not fuel/temp) did you leave the needles resting at the 8 o'clock spot or did you move them?

They do lay right over the original gauges. It can provide a very cool effect when you turn the indiglo ones all the way down, and your stock ones all the way up.
You are forced to move the needles to about 11 o'clock if i remember right to get the gauge on. Make sure to not put too much pressure on the needle, and to get the pin in the hole (the hole where the mph needle rests)
Also, you might want to cut out little holes so you can see the gas light, and open dooi lights that are actually on your gauges.

How exactly did your needle pop off? Pressure from the top? Did your hand hit it? How should I handle these needles?

This is the wire I was talking about. Is it safe to cut through?

(pic deleted)

i guess they are not really wires but any way...

Also do the pins that the needles rest on come out or do the stock gauges slide over them?

Yeah, those wires coming from the top. Where do they run to?? Also, the gray area on the back...are those safe to cut? If I'm cutting from one hole to the next on the fuel/temp gauge I'll be cutting through them.

The wires on the top will run down behind the gauge cluster to where ever you want the knob to be.

The gray stuff is what I want to know about too.

I think that I may keep the stock gauges on. One less chance to break a needle, right.

Ooh my bad guys, don't cut all the way through it!
Sorry about that.
My needle popped off because of too much pressure from the top. I thought i could force it over the needle, but i hadn't slit it enough.
Now to revamp my theory...
Make clean cuts towards the OUTSIDE of the gauge so you don't end up cutting through the indiglo material. If you slit into it its ok, but once you severe the connection completely it won't light up.
Smithers you wont have this problem on the other gauges, but volley, you can cut into the indiglo material in the other 2 gauges so you can slide them over the needles.

SO in other words, make the cuts where the red lines are

no matter where you cut on yours you'll have to cut into the glow material. I chose to cut by the screw so the screw could hide it a little bit.
You have the ones just like mine right?

what do you mean straight through the hole?
I took the screw out of the stock gauge, ad then it lined up perfect and i put the screw back in.

THat will work perfect. You could put tape on the back so after you slide it on, you can tape it, and it won't move around. i want to see after pics :D

I am so pissed about that little mistake I made on the engine temp. cut.:'( Im hoping that I wont see it when they get installed.

What am I sopost to do with the pins that the needles rest on? Do they come out? How?

later

Just take your cluster out, and move it to your room, then you can at least get the faces on before you wire everything tomorrow.
