This kit, up front

The head unit is now higher quality with 50x4 output, with a 7" flip out screen for $529 total.

Whos got it? I know some have the screen. Whats the deal with the E-brake rumor? Is it necessary on this one?

Would any of the plastic support pieces be req'd for this screen?

Anyone got pics of it tucked in?

you take the green ebrake wire and take it to a solid ground this fools the system into the thinking hte ebrake is on all the time. :)

no i think you missed what i was saying, from the screen that ur gonna put in there is a green ebrake wire instead of hooking it to the ebrake u hook it to a ground. this send a signal to the tv making it think the ebrake is on when really its just grounded out the wire. no lights or anything will come on.

Some monitors need a brake and ebrake wire hook up.
For those you have to send a +12 volts on the brake line and hold it then ground on the ebrake line and hold it then release it then hold it again, then release the +12 on the brake line.
Thats ALPINE!
Most everyon else is just a ground signal on the ebrake and no brake wire.

Were considering that flip down screen as a front monitor?
Usualy you will be to far to the side to easily see the screen.

I have purchased from that site. They are a pain to get ahold of. If you call them on the phone, you may wait on hold for hours. I bought the 7-inch in dash LCD, which I would assume is the same actual LCD as the flip down. I also bought the DVD player MP-2, though now I wish I had waited and gotten the MP-8. It's the only player they have with Anti-Skip - hell at $129, I might buy it anyway, and give mine to my little brother.

Quality is good, never had any problems. I get a little tiny bit of noise in the pic but it doesn't bother me enough to find a better ground. I've got the DVD player mounted under the passenger seat facing backwards. I can switch disks while driving without a problem.

You can check out a pic here

So you just got a regular home dvd player and put it under the seat?

The one I'm looking at there is an in dash HU for $329.

No I bought the DVD player model MP-2 off the same site, and if you read my original post, I did say it already.

Incidentally, the Grey and Black trim on the LCD , actually matches up with the factory trim nicely when the unit is closed.

whew!!! finally someone has given a critique on this company.. i didn't know what to think of them... i have gotten back replies by email, but i just wasn't sure about the quality of the product... are there any more opinions on the quality of this company/company's product??

Ok, here is a more in depth critique, getting them on the phone is nearly impossible - I literally would call from work and wait on hold for hours. Fortunately, I have a speaker phone, and their hold music is classic rock - so I didn't mind too much.

The people there have think accents that sound french on one guy and asian on another. They seem pretty shady - but I got my stuff without a problem - so I guess I can't complain.

I did recieve a call from US Customs since the DVD player is a radiation emitting device. I assured them I was not planning to nuke the world from my car - and the customs agent actually laughed and just said they have to verify that I did order it.

The DVD player is a bit large, but does fit under the Passenger seat with room to spare. As far as skipping goes, it's what you would expect. Mounted dead center in the car, on the floor - it sometimes will skip on a small bump in the road - other times I'll hit large bumps and it's fine. Sometimes vice-versa. I found a DVD player at a friends shop here which is a slot loader and he claims it has antiskip - I'll probably buy it from him in a few months.

The LCD is built into it's own custom housing pretty well - it has two video inputs on it, and the remote is very small. The screen can pivot and tilt. Picture quality isn't that bad - I do get some discernable visual noise in the picture from the cars electrical system - it hasn't bothered me enough to do the grounding kit. My friends all think it looks great, and they are pretty used to the amount of toys I have.

The DVD player will play DVD/SVCD/VCD 1.0 and 2.0 - I know because I have a ton of burned movies and music video mixes in my car now. It has been a little picky on DVD's - it doesn't like to play Terminator 2, or my Star Wars Trilogy Bootlegs(ripped from the special edition laserdiscs - THX dolby digital, 5.1, AC-3) from Malaysia.

Incidentally - I've found that the LT/RT downmix is the most accurate, the Stereo and Surround Modes tend to mix the channels too much. Most of my friends tell me they can hear the surround sound - even though it is just in Stereo. Personally I think 5.1ch audio in a car is retarded. Too small of a area to soundstage properly. You just can't target the channels to all 5 Seats. Stereo is fine.

In the end, the stuff works - and it's the cheapest price by far that you will find. Incidentally - they do have a group buy option for orders of 50 units or more - they will knock 10% off the total price. If someone manages to pull that off - I'd be impressed.

I saw the Package for $389 which included the 7"lcd monitor and the MP-9...Will they fit where the stock CD player sat?? Do you need a radio inorder for this to work?? Any info would be great b/c their lines are busy!!
