They had RSXs, Focuses, Civics, Jettas ... also a few RWD and AWD vehicles. I remember the vehicle that made the fastest lap time was a S2000 (i think) and the price total was around 80-90k. In the end they had a picture of a zo6 and under it was the statement that they ran the same track in the z06 and still beat all of the tuners.
BTW....c&d has come out with new magazine called BOOST. It has only one issue but it seemed pretty good to me. In the mag. they had a story on a new civic si w/ around 50k in mods and it still sucked. 0-60 in somewhere around the 7s. Granted....some of the mods where strickly visual upgrades.
Yeah, I read about the celica. I've got the magazine upstairs. The celica was expensive as crap! I also like the gauge cluster....definitely one of a kind. Basically I'm a c&d fan. IMO they write good articles about cool cars and I like the layout better than MT.Notorious said:On a side note did you see the supercharged celica??? That thing was terrible, over 50k on top of the base price of the car to pull a high 14 second quarter mile. Not to mention you have to cut a hole in the hood to get the supercharger to fit. One thing I kind of liked about the mugen civic was the gauge cluster and of course the motor. Good God those wheels are expensive though.

The good thing about Boost is it gives you info on specific mods and this info is backed up with tests. Its not a magazine showing a bunch of modded cars without any track or test numbers. Kinda like the Big Brake Kit article. Pretty Interesting!!
They comparison is kinda silly but C&D made that stupid remark. So what would you do if your only goal was to have the fastest all around car. Buy a 50k car or buy a cheap car and used the rest to make it fast?RyanJayG said:of course you could out-perform a z06 with a 50K civic, but I doubt you could do it and make the civic as comfortable. in that I mean that A LOT of the $50k price tag of the corvette is in comfort, amenities, and style. if you had a $50k corvette of nothing but engine, suspension, and shell then you would destroy a civic.
the LS-1 is no joke, and can take a ton of punishment if you were building one... Lingenfelter anyone?
I think its silly to think that a shell + $50K of engine COULDN'T beat a car that costs $50k TOTAL.
just silly
Well.....there are options; aren't there? Here's my choice!RyanJayG said:I would build a kit car, fiberglass over tube frame. full on race car, twin turbo a LT-1 chevy V8. forged internals, etc.
way under 50K... it would own so hard
But; A Cobra will turn more heads than most anything!Replica said:The turboed vette's are rare and extremely expensive to put together.
A nice MTI heads/cam LS1 vette will run high 10's....
you know..... only about 350 'real' 427s were ever built. And; they held so many records.....Replica said:I agree the cobra is sexy. I saw a real one at a gas station by my parents house once, 427 and all. It was neat.
