Illumina or Hp

:
2002 pro 5 and 1969 chevelle malibu
I have a chance to get a set of Illumina for $500 with 10,000 km on them or i can get a new set of hp for $450 what should i do.

and were is the rear adjusting nob located on the strut

could possbily be on the bottom of the strut body, near where it bolts into the rear setup. or they could all be located on the top of the rod.

as for the struts, if the illuminas are in good shape i would go with them if you want adjustability. and for that price, whats 50 bucks extra? You get a good amount of range to fit your personal preference. The HP's are still a great strut though, nothing beats a brand new upgrade.

might be able to find either or a little cheaper if you look hard enough, sweet deals come and go.

They are single adjustable on the Illuminas, and it's on the top. If you drill a small hole in the rear seatbelt mounting points, you can adjust them without having to take out anything. If you don't need the adjustability or want the extra stiffness, go w/ the HPs.

Hang on now, the valving on the HPs is set to between the "1" and "2" settings on the Illuminas, so sayeth Tokico.

do you have a pic of the hole that you drilled so i can see the location and i thought that the illumina's were 5 way adjustible.

Yes, if you want stiffer than that, get the Illuminas.

Yes, settings 1-5, as compared to Konis, which don't have settings per se. I'll see if I can find a pic online, if not I'll have to take a pic when it's light out. Mike R did it to his as well.

yes it's 5 way adjustable ..and it's done through a little turnkey at the top of the strut. You have to drill through the seatbelt thing. Pain in the ass. I'm gonna run HP rear and Illumina front instead since both my rear Illuminas are blown and I never adjust them anyways.

i love my illuminas

usually leave the front on 2 during daily driving and 5 during autox

$450 for a new set of HPs is too high. ProtegeGarage is selling them for $379. Also, $500 for a set of USED Illuminas is too high. You can get them new online for around that price. Shop around some more, and spend your money wisely.

I carry both on my website, but I'd recommend the illuminas for tunability.

They aren't covered under warranty?

I have illuminas, and I AM IN LOVE WITH THEM... I bought them brand new tho, i dont know about used.. If you get illuminas, you will really really like them, especially their adjustability options... :D (IMO)

I have the same car as you.. 02 yellow p5 :D

If it's not too late. Here's the pics. Lift the plastic, pull out the foam, drill the hole.
