The MINI Cooper S is a bad little car. My brother has a 2006. It's fast and handles great. The styling is not for everyone but I'm sure there are plenty out there that turn their noses at Mazda 3's as well.

That being said, a houndstooth pattern on the roof of a Mazda 3 is not a good idea.
