Ice's N/A Build

Installed my K&N Typhoon and gave the filter a bloudy good cleaning on Sunday. Induction noise = epic. Its interesting that 200cc of displacement (not even really!) can make that much difference in the way the car behaves.

Thankfully the CAI has helped to cure the FS-DE somewhat laggy middle and upper rev range. Sounds great now.

We attempted to fit the autoexe extractors to the car but it seems the AUDM SP20 has a different exhaust setup to the JDM version as the headers wouldn't fit by about 15cm. That sucked :(

ACK! Got a fair bit done, ill have to take some photos and write up a proper post.

A shot of my dirty car from the other night:

A simple but really nice ride Ice. My Sport20 is now back on the road after two years parked(was impossible to find a 4WD box - after destroying a gear). I got another engine with a 2WD box. It's pretty ok, a really fun car to drive but, this fs engine I know has a great deal more potential as N\A. The only mod I've made so far is to replace the factory air box and replace it with a short ram and high flow filter infront of the MAF sensor. The factory plastic intake between the throttle body and the MAF sensor is still there, don't know if I replace that with piping it will make much of a difference. Still have the factory cast iron exhaust header on there - I'm thinking of going aftermarket but now sure if it will make a difference.

Got a head with the fs-ze cams. The side of the head has the # 14.1 marked on the side, not sure what those numbers mean. The head I have on the new engine is marked 20.1 on the side. Not sure if anyone can enlighten me.

Not sure about the head numbers tbh man. That's TheMANs territory, AFAIK all the heads are the same just the cams inside the heads vary from engine to engine (i.e. USDM FS to JDM FS etc.)

The Sport20s I know that NZ got were all FS-ZE powered anyways.

good stuff, bud. I really need to get a microtech, fear with standalones and tuning it myself was what stopped me a few years ago. Do you have it installed yet?

No I'm actually trying to sell it as its programmed for US spec engines! If your interested let me know I'd like it to go to a home that will make use of it :)

I understand with tolerances you have with your engine there is greater risk with something going wrong. Got any friends from pen state that helped you with the last few tunes?

I also have the protege guide that turfburn made which I can send you if it helps?

Shopping List of stuff i need to get before the FS-ZE can go in:
Intake Manifold Gasket
Throttle Body Gasket
Gates timing belt kit
Waterpump - gmb
tube of 3 bond - grey.
Clutch + spigot bearing.
Hoses
Coolant
Oil
Oil Filter
Spark Plugs
Gear Box Oil

Also need to get my Light Weight Flywheel and probably some new shims so that my cams will work ;) Had some goodies arrive the other day, will have to take some photos and upload. Really need to be home during daylight hours though :(

Ordered new rear shocks as the espiler springs killed what was left of the stock struts pretty damn quickly. Got some tokicos comig from SU so will have matching all round then which will be nice.

Will try grab some photos tonight when I'm out at a meet of how the car sits currently :)

Yeah it's setup for us protgs and the cost of the reflash has gone up, meaning that I can get a new one or a haltech for cheaper :(

Hey installshield,

I've seen it and read it, just need to sit down and write a reply and in one case investigate as we don't have pit inspections :)

Works been epically busy due to Christmas shut down, trying to finish project before shutdown.

Replied mate.

Forgot to say, when I got these springs and shocks I got a epic deal. Guy out here was parting out his suspension so i picked up front set of tokicos that where a few weeks old for 170. Picked up a complete set of Espelirs new for $177 posted from Japan. :D

Hard enough to track these springs down second hand considering there pretty rare let alone a new set for crazy cheap. First impressions of the springs is awesome, could do with being a little stiffer but I think the new struts will help fix that :) (or at least i hope). Hopefully SU get off there ass and send these struts soon already there not going to be here for Christmas which sucks.

Working a fair bit of OT atm (about 6 days a week) as well a long hours so engine should be going in after Christmas, hopefully early new year :D Can't wait to hear the cams, will hopefully have my new camera so can finally post up pictures :D

Oh and first post updated ;)
