I have found the noise

only until the car has 80000 miles. after that, you gotta shell the money out yourself

Will the warranty still be voided since he has already taken the car in and it has been documented? (dunno) I would keep calling to see if they have heard anything for fear of them dragging their feet intentionally if IT WILL NOT be covered after the 80k mark.

good point. with him only having 600 or so miles til he hits the magic "we dont have to deal with it anymore" mark, the dealership might have that in the back of their mind

He told me that if my check engine lite was on and is was a misfire that they would not be able to work on it. My motor does misfire once in a blue moon and basically the CEL is on all the time but when I got to the dealership it magiclly went off. But is it true that they wont do it if it I had motor misfiring. I dont see how that could effect it. Is it me or is that bs.

it's BS, that shouldn't have an effect on a hole in your cat. Clear the CEL (since you know what it's for) and take it in ;)

I have that part in my shed if you need it. I'll sell it to you super cheap like $20+shipping. Car had about 60K on it when I removed it. But yeah I'm pretty sure the emissions warranty should cover it.

lol thats some excuse they gave you...I wonder which employees ass they pulled that one out of...

Just buy a header. They're like $200...

Maybe he cant run a header where he lives. Id be screwed if i took my car in to an emissions inspection with a header. California blows for aftermarket performance.

There's just tooooooo many people. On a positive note, pre-1976 vehicles are still smog exempt. Thats what the '67 el camino is for (glare)

Alright the dealership hasnt called me back, I called them earlyer today in the morning but they said that they still didnt hear from mazda yet. Im gonna try agian.

Not to side with the dealer but as an ex service advisor, we'd try to get any work we could even though warranty work only paid a fraction of non warranty, (which is why I guess they want it to not be warranty) as far as warrranty expiring my dealership would often times cover past the warranty period within a couple of thousand miles as a way to build cust loyalty mainly because it works! I bought my mp5 used so i dont have a warrany guide for it but if the emissions warranty is still covered at 80k then this is a coverable item. If they are worried about a code stop by your friendly autozone on the way to the dealer and flash that biatch!
