Looks like someone needs to read the posse comitatus act. Deploying the army to enforce law on civilians is against posse comitatus and agianst the LA constitution.

constitution? what constitution? have you been watching the news? its about protecting and helping the people, helping thm survive.

That attitude right there is the exact reason why such provisions were put into the constitution. Cause with your attitude im sure you wouldnt care if foreign troops came in here to enforce the law. Just because we have a major crisis on out hands doesnt mean you ******* throw the constitution away. Thats how you get tyranny.

Actually, I forget the exact terms, but there are certain provisions written into every constitution that gives the executive branch immediate and total power if it's agreed upon by the majority of the offices in the Executive branch. I don't know how that applies to this particular constitution, but I believe it's probably the same as most of the others.

Was their anything besides speculation in that post? There is a reason why we have 3 branches to our govt. Its like this to keep people like the president from declaring parts of the consitution null and void just because everyone in the executive branch agrees.
Firsy off it would require an act of congress to repeal posse comitatus and as far as i know nothing has been introduced.

ok, to settle this, the military is bieng sent in, 1400 a day, BUT they will be under direct control of Governor Blanco and FEMA. therefor, the civilians are still in controll.

Ok after a little research, I don't think theres anything actually written into the constitution, but go check out a few things for me. Look up the "War Powers Act" and the "National Emergencies Act" and then come back and tell me that the constitution can't be superceded. Sometimes there just isn't time to get congress gathered to approve a bill in a time of emergency or national crisis, that's why stuff like this is written.

Im not disagreeing that these acts cant be superseded. But like i said it requiress a act of congress to supersede one of these acts. And just cause there is a major crisis doesnt mean the rules should be thrown out and all authority given to one branch of the govt.
Also just so you know there is no law higher thea the constitution you need a lot more than congress to change the constitution.

I want to see that map in the end of the world II. The first one was funny as hell.

"Three hundred of the Arkansas National Guard have landed in the city of New Orleans. These troops are fresh back from Iraq, well trained, experienced, battle tested and under my orders to restore order in the streets. They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded. These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so if necessary and I expect they will." said Gov. Kathleen Blanco

Oh boy now its getting interesting

Washington currently has two VERY active volcanos and 2 dormant ones that could become active at any time. we have had tornados. 4 in my area. we get waterspouts in puget sound, tsunamis on the coast, I have expirienced at least 10 earthquakes, the san juan islands had what metiorologists describe as a mini hurricane. We have had it all here and we will see more. So all you folks who think all we get it rain you are seriously mistaken.

Not realy. I drove my car right through one of the tornados lol. all they usually do is over turn rowboats and rip roofs of of single wides. An only one of them was that strong. The volcanos are my concern. Mount Saint Helens is the most active but it's already lost 1/3 of it's mass in the explostion back in 1980. It has been shooting out small clouds of ash and steem since last sep and the lava dome has risen over 100' but it is venting well so the chance of a major eruption is slim. regardless of what the media is saying. Mount baker is my concern. It has been active for over a century longer than mt. st. helens and is oover twide it's size. It has never blown before and it is venting quite well but If it goes like st. helens it will devestate most of the north west. and probably all of BC.
