Martial Law gives the military power to police. That has not been given and the national guard has to follow police orders and can only help the them. Either way, youve got to feel bad for these people, even the ones that are acting crazy. Thats what these circumstances will do to someone. The people are shooting at the rescue workers to get their attention to actually get rescued. There have been people stranded on rooftops for almost 4 days now. 4 days. No food, no water(clean), no signs of help other than choppers, and there only way out is to wade through diseased infested water that people have urinated, deficated and died in. People this situation is bad. Nobody can give an opinion on how people are reacting because this has never been seen before. When was the last time there has been civil unrest in a city that has been completely shut down?
New Orleans will never be the same. It is destroyed. Even once they get the water out, think of the clean up? Think of the contaminated water that is saturated into the ground. I think it will be months, if not years, that people will live there again.
