Well if anyone still cares, I did the same setup and got it to work, only I don't have an aftermarket intake. I used a blitz bov and home-depot'ed the flange. I tried it with the bpv connected (as in Mach's setup), and then without it connected (plugged vac hose with golf tee). Not much difference, maybe a bit louder if anything, but it really isn't that loud at all though. I only hear the bov if my windows are up and radio off from inside the car. I mean considering i have no intake and stock psi is single digits, I wasn't expecting much. I'm getting an injen cai within the next 2 weeks. I'm predicting that my bov will sound louder, the turbo spool will sound louder, but I have a feeling that I might get some turkey if i leave the bpv disconnected, which if i do, all i have to do is take out the golf tee and plug it into the connector, no biggie.
For anyone interested in doing this, it's a lot simpler than you expect it to be. My boss (who btw owns a sick evo) helped me out with this, did it all in less than 20 minutes. He was very impressed by the whole method, and would've never thought about doing something like this. The only uncomfortable part about the installation is that he kept making fun of my 6-8psi, compared to his 25. So if you're gonna have someone help you, make sure he has a piece of crap car, and that he knows what he's doing.
I just want to thank Mach and 505 for going through all the trouble. I highly reocmmend this setup to anyone who owns an msp and doesn't want to spend more than 20 bucks + cost of bov. I know everyone just wants the nice pssht sound (which I get now but just isn't loud yet), but you notice such a huge difference in driving. The throttle response is a lot nicer, no overreving, and better take off from the line.
If anyone is interested, i can take pictures of my setup, although i'm sure it won't reveal anything different than Mach's.
