How-To: Home Depot (HD) Lip

please someone do this for the PRO...btw is there another shape option for the lip?

What do you mean shape? Its a long piece of rubber that is contoured to the bumper, or do you mean the beveled edge of it?

if you do it to a pro please put up pics, im thinking of doing this

I am going to go by Home Depot/Lowes later today to find one. Since I don't have a stock splitter and have been wanting one, I think this might suffice.

Well, I went and picked up the stuff, first I taped it on and took some pics, got about4 screws in and figured I did not like the way it was turning out, MP3 bumper has some curves to it and just did not seem to flow right. I think a Carbon fiber or stock splitter(flat) is best for the protege.

well folks. count me in as a HDRacer. put mine on today. not bad. although the 3M tape didnt seem to stick that well on the stripping for me. i put it on anyway and screwed it in. havent drove yet on it, but i dont have much faith in that tape. i may have to retape it if it comes off. i had to buy two rolls of tape (which wasnt supplied at HD).

I used acetone on both the rubber and the bumper. Heating up the tape also help it stick better.

i used mineral spirits. by the way, does anyone know if these things flap around like an idiot at high speeds? anyone watched it from another car while the speed is in motion?

btw, i have a emblemless grill on the way. car looks sharp with the hdlip and grill.

So I notice primarily MS6 owners with this on their cars...does anyone know if it looks at least halfway decent on a regular 6?

Contemplating putting one on, but if it makes the car look goofy, I'll save the change for lunch at work :D

So . . . did anyone answer the question about trying this lip on a regular 6?

Please do. Or it will eventually peel off without the extra support. I used 9 self tapping screws

Doesnt matter. I did mine when it was the same out. Use acetone on both the car and the new rubber.

Ok, stupid question--how do you remove the lip that's already there on the MS3s? I really want to do this, but this is in the way, as I understand the instructions...

i wanna do this but im worried about driving in the snow with it and i have a CP-E FMIC would it even work? does anyone drive in the snow with it?

Had a friend do it at his shop last night--not the easiest of things, as you have to drill out some aluminum rivets to remove the original lip. Once that's done, pretty easy. My friend attached it w/two sided tape and some plastic rivets. Looks really good for $10!
