ok so to just bring this back from the dead once more hopefully, can anyone tell me what exactly the TT wires are and what they need to be connected to, to keep it running, after a few hours of searching and reviewing this how to and all the links, I keep getting different/contradicting info, like this is what I have for a diagram, but it is missing the 2 red wires, but I would think that the others are relatively accurate. (linked below)
but anyways from what I have read, would I be able to set the red wire from the TT which needs a 12v constant power source correct? to my own 12v power source that I run the rest of my gauges/accessories off of, I have 12v wire coming from the battery itself, it goes into a relay that is triggered by a tap into the ign. harness, and that goes to a distribution block, so that the distribution block is supplied with power once the car is in the On posistion, so, would I be able to hook the TT into the 12v wire BEFORE it goes into the relay.. so it really would be a constant 12v source, (the wire coming from the battery also has a fuse inline)
but I wanted to run that 12v power source to a manual switch so if I want to have it off 50% or more of the time I can, and turn it on when I want (does the TT NEED a constant 12v source to keep memory? and if so, which wire on the TT is needed to turn the TT on once the car is on?) I would like to know this so that if I can, have the red 12v wire from the TT hooked up to the dedicated 12v line from the battery, then if I can, use which ever wire the TT needs to tell it to turn ON once the car is on, use that wire to be hooked up to the distribution block I have set up, and also the manual switch (it would go from the block to the manual switch to the TT wire, so the car would have to be on, and the switch would have to be on to have the TT on)
and that would leave the green wire (if it is the blue wire from the TT that is used as the "switch" to turn the TT on) to tell the car to keep running, which from what I read should be hooked up to the starter ign wire, which from my diagram and a few other posts I read is going to be the Black/blue wire? or do I want the ignition 1 wire which would be the blue wire?
I just want to know this because I really would like to keep the car "clean" until I know how to install it and what it will do because I need the car to drive around in, and back to school soon, and don't want this to screw it up, so I want to know if I can hook it up the way I described and why if I can't, and what the wires in the TT need to preform correctly in the car, like the type of wires they need that connects to which parts, not the color of wires in the harness...
also since I don't need the speed thing to count up, can i just not install the purple wire, or will it work better if I do, and just turn the ability for it to count up depending on speed off on the unit itself(if that is possible at all)
sorry if this is confusing I would just really like to get this sorted out before I do this and so I know what is going on, I was planning on working with my brother's msp and his TT to figure it out on his first, but he has an evolution TT or something like that, even though I still plan to work on his, because his doesn't keep the engine working, just the electronics when the TT is on.. so have to figure that out anyways..
thanks for the help hopefully, would be nice to finally clear this up for myself, and others
