How To: Greddy Full Auto-timer Install

lol, ya I was thinking about hitting it by accident when I'm driving it, or when my friend or someone is about to get into the car, and the alarm goes off (while im in the car with it on haha).. I gotta turn down my sensitivity to it though first... the damn thing beeps at you when you touch/light tap sometimes, like it has a mind of its own

I know I'm bumping an old thread lol, but I have a question, the harness he's tapping into for the ignition, I found it on my car, but when I test the wires the red constant doesn't have any power going to it, and when I installed the tt it wont turn on. The harness seems to have two parts and both of them connect to eachother, but only 4 wires actually go anywhere, the other 8 are all connected to eachother when plugged in. I have no idea where else to get an ign1 and ign2 to tap into

ok humm .. i just did mine .. the TT just power on ACC ... the key on ON its not workn ... my wires arnt the same color as yours ... someone had the same colors as me and had the same probleme ... and did said he mixed up the wires ... but Ddnt said Witch one ...........
help

i tried that still didnt work. when the key goes to start with out starting the car it comes on but says Off on the screen i can manually turn it on after that but it still doesnt keep the car on when i turn it off...heres a diagram of my ignition clip with what wires are there

same as this one , my car is a protege5 2002. thx.

ok so TT is on with the key at ACC and RUN.
i set it at P-1 and at IG
everything works just like its supose to but the countdown dosnt start when i turn the key back to acc ... the car just stall and the counddown dosnt start.
help me ... im starting to loose patience :(

cut the plug that has only 3 cables, the plug is white.
splice the RED wire onto the RED wire from ignition.(shown below)
splice the GREEN wire onto blue wire (in the picture, it would be the wire behind the black/white wire)
splice the BLUE wire onto the black/white stripe wire.

Hey man, I re-did the wiring as well, and the blue wire from TT tapped onto blue wire (that you've label "not used" ) , checked it with volt-meter and it is the second ON wire. Based on the Greddy instruction for our car we need to connect the green and blue to 2 ON wires which are the 2 blue ones.

Thats the only difference I made from the rest of your connections.

follow the troubleshooting from greddy instructions.
Make sure the switch in the rear is on its left not right as well.

ohh i havnt looked at the switch and i dont have any instruction with it . its 2nd hand .. ill have to look thru their website . thx Speed3.5

yes I meant for you to get their instruction online since the one it comes with are in Japanese , the one online are in english .

i tried the other day for a full hour to make it work ... no dice man .. it aint workn for s*** .. the count down dosnt even start !! :(

Yeah, I understand it gets frustrating especially when you have to follow tedious steps for this typical TT but they have explained everything in their online pdf file so it will be more confusing if I'd instruct you w/o seeing how it reacts.

Unless something has failed in the unit that won't work properly, electrical component are fragile sometimes.

ok so to just bring this back from the dead once more hopefully, can anyone tell me what exactly the TT wires are and what they need to be connected to, to keep it running, after a few hours of searching and reviewing this how to and all the links, I keep getting different/contradicting info, like this is what I have for a diagram, but it is missing the 2 red wires, but I would think that the others are relatively accurate. (linked below)

but anyways from what I have read, would I be able to set the red wire from the TT which needs a 12v constant power source correct? to my own 12v power source that I run the rest of my gauges/accessories off of, I have 12v wire coming from the battery itself, it goes into a relay that is triggered by a tap into the ign. harness, and that goes to a distribution block, so that the distribution block is supplied with power once the car is in the On posistion, so, would I be able to hook the TT into the 12v wire BEFORE it goes into the relay.. so it really would be a constant 12v source, (the wire coming from the battery also has a fuse inline)

but I wanted to run that 12v power source to a manual switch so if I want to have it off 50% or more of the time I can, and turn it on when I want (does the TT NEED a constant 12v source to keep memory? and if so, which wire on the TT is needed to turn the TT on once the car is on?) I would like to know this so that if I can, have the red 12v wire from the TT hooked up to the dedicated 12v line from the battery, then if I can, use which ever wire the TT needs to tell it to turn ON once the car is on, use that wire to be hooked up to the distribution block I have set up, and also the manual switch (it would go from the block to the manual switch to the TT wire, so the car would have to be on, and the switch would have to be on to have the TT on)

and that would leave the green wire (if it is the blue wire from the TT that is used as the "switch" to turn the TT on) to tell the car to keep running, which from what I read should be hooked up to the starter ign wire, which from my diagram and a few other posts I read is going to be the Black/blue wire? or do I want the ignition 1 wire which would be the blue wire?

I just want to know this because I really would like to keep the car "clean" until I know how to install it and what it will do because I need the car to drive around in, and back to school soon, and don't want this to screw it up, so I want to know if I can hook it up the way I described and why if I can't, and what the wires in the TT need to preform correctly in the car, like the type of wires they need that connects to which parts, not the color of wires in the harness...

also since I don't need the speed thing to count up, can i just not install the purple wire, or will it work better if I do, and just turn the ability for it to count up depending on speed off on the unit itself(if that is possible at all)

sorry if this is confusing I would just really like to get this sorted out before I do this and so I know what is going on, I was planning on working with my brother's msp and his TT to figure it out on his first, but he has an evolution TT or something like that, even though I still plan to work on his, because his doesn't keep the engine working, just the electronics when the TT is on.. so have to figure that out anyways..

thanks for the help hopefully, would be nice to finally clear this up for myself, and others

you are getting too complicated!

ok, first off, you need to know what does a TurboTimer do.

A turbo timer is designed to keep the engine running for a few more seconds even after removing the key. Some have built in functions for anti-theft:
E-Brake switch: Activated when the E-Brake is released, will trigger the TT to turn off the engine
Speed switch: Activated when engine speeds exceed 1MPH, this is tapped at the VSS cable in the ECU (when speed increases, voltage increases at this wire, the TT will sense this change in voltage and turn the engine off)

A turbo timer accomplishes the task of keeping the engine on by creating a virtual ignition key. When the car is on, all the key is doing is leaving two or three cables connected, when key is removed, this switches those cables off thus engine dies. Hence the need for a constant V12, the V12 will go to the TT, then the turbo timer with its circuitry will supply uninterrupted power to the SWITCHED V12 to keep the engine running even if the key is not there.

I have found out that even in the same model, in this case the MSP, cabling varies inside. What for some might be blue, for you might be yellow..or whatever

the real way of finding out which cables are which is by testing the power of each cable and finding the switched and constant V12 cables.

hmm, ya I figured the way I wanted to run it might be a problem, so is there anyway to run it to the manual switch? like can I use my constant 12v power source from the battery instead of the 12v constant power source in the ign harness? I figure that way the other 2 wires in the ign harness keep the car going and I just have a dedicated 12v source going the TT.. or does the constant 12v source need to be tapped into the ign harness also?

thanks
