Check this out.

Keep in mind that is royalty etc... not like the French don't have similar palaces etc... wealth always congregates at the top and when you privately own a country essentially it's easy to be a bit extravagant... so yes, it's sick that someone has that kind of wealth... but a palace like that takes decades to build.. so it really has nothing to do with "now." and the wealth is there regardles... look at some of the most expensive houses in the US and you'll see some insane insane things... should have seen the place I saw in Cali that was the home of William Randolph Herst I believe... some sort of newspaper and industry tycoon from the early 1900's... absolutely fricken insane... it was a small town.. and it was his house!! (one of several around country actually...)

But anyway... gas prices... :)

Talked to my bro in Cali... Wisconsin is actually higher on gas that in his area of cali (visalia/Fresno). that's a first!

I'm aware that has nothing to do with what's going on now. I just remembered Jim sent me that link so I thought I'd throw it around here:). Quoted wrong post, oh well. BTW, car is pulling nicley:D

Because of hurricane Katrina gas in GA has gone up to between $3 and $5. The gas stations are running out of gas and it will be a couple days before they get more. So, needless to say there was long lines at the stations.

I live in Maryland, and as of an hour ago, 93 octane is up to $3.19 at some of the gas stations here, and I heard on the news this afternoon that within the next month, its going to be up to $4 a gallon.

Cleveland, OH - 87 = $2.99-3.19

Ridicious!

I think I'm gonna trade my car in for a Toyota Prius now... I could deal with no power and driving slower...

That's the kind of thing I hope to hear from lots of SUV drivers after this is over. (I hope gas prices do return lower again!)
"Hmm maybe I don't need 7000 lbs of SUV to drive Timmy to soccer practice. I'm such a dumbshit for driving this beast all the time. Why don't I drive something more practical?"

About 3.09 for 87 in my neigborhood. But lot's of 3.29's and it's 3.84 in Chicago. But just saw a Shell near work that's still at 2.95 for 87. The stations have a week or two supply in their ground tanks, but all these daily price spikes sure do add to profits. I'm gonna tell my kids to either get into gasoline or jewelry when they grow up.

Rememeber to check www.gasbuddy.com and www.gaspricewatch.com since it is now worth it to drive a while to find the lowest prices. And it will help all of us if y'all can help keep those sites updated with prices whenever you can.

Gas stations don't really make money on the gas... some stations are even having to sell the gas at a loss right now.... during "normal" times gas stations only end up making about a penny per gallon... right now some stations are reporting losses of as much as 10 cents per gallon... some are gouging and making money off of it to be sure... and it will get worse as supplies get short.... but as it stands right now just because prices are going up, don't assume that the gas station is making bank on it... further up the supply line is coming out ok.. but part of that is because they are also losing huge amounts of money with every day that they are not up and functional... literally costs refineries that are damaged millions of dollars a day to not be putting out refined fuel.
