OOOOHHHH? It's the tree huggers? O.K., it all makes sense now! Silly me.
(that's sarcasim by the way)
I would suggest you stop watching FOX News immediately...

Who doesn't like refineries being built? Environmentalists.
What does every news and energy agency out there right now say is at fault for increasing prices? Refineries
Why don't we build more refineries? Because environmentalists don't let them.
So until you can explain it another way that is logical and not a silly attack based on a bias toward a news agency (one which I do not watch, or read... ever.) please work on being mature.

msnbc article said:
There hasnt been a new refinery built in the U.S. since 1976, the result of extremely tight environmental restrictions, not-in-my-back-yard community opposition, and the high cost of new construction.

Because of organizations and mentalities like this:

I can post more articles too (and none are from Fox! such a laughably sad accusation)... but the finger still is pointing at the tree-hugger.

$3.31!!!

One station just raised it's price to 3.31. Most others are just under $3 for 87. Glad I topped off on the way into work this morning...only paid $2.75. I say we bust into those reserves. But our pres, whose family happens to be in the oil business doesn't want to. At least he can enjoy his vacation....

**edit**
I noticed on my way home that 93 octane was $3.67!!!

yeah they're going into the reserves but it wont lower prices, its just to help out with the Katrina situation... because they cant import the petro during this weather crisis.. correct me if i'm worng, but thats how i perceived it. (stash)

Look at why gas has surged this week not because of lack or crude oil but it is because of the lack of refinerys in production right now. The crude supply is there but if you want to put the blame on someone put it on soccer mom and her one kid in their expedition driving to practice and back. The price of gas has soared due to the 150% increase of SUV's and trucks on the road that are no only required to meet a 20.7mpg average in the US by federal guidlines and thats for light duty trucks and SUV's. If people would get their heads out of their ass and stop buying cars that get 10-15mpg and get a car that suits thier driving needs not a status symbol then gas prices wouldn't be nearly as high as they have gotten....Demand is way up but supply is low due to the LACK OF REFINERY's

roughly speaking... yes... the guy right after you nailed it... refineries are the issue... crude prices HAVE gone up as well.... and the big thing of that is "oil futures" which is essentially a stock market... people outbid each other to buy what is available... if there is only so much you go higher to get it... then they top you, you top them... etc... hence the rise in crude (as well as other factors affecting crude pricing) but was was stated... the current and next few months is due to refinery damage. 10% of refining capability is in the shitter right now.

Yep.. very true... the only comment I'd make too is that a lot of older vehicles that people keep driving and re-selling etc are even worse on gas mileage and the environment... but yes the recent trend has amplified the average.. there was an article I read that said the current average gas mileage of all cars combined that are being sold is actually LOWER than it was a few years ago...

Ok

Ok!

(You do realize that cheek kissing is standard welcome and departure ceremony/tradition for many countries and peoples).

$3.09 in Charleston, WV. I don't like any more than the next guy unless I see the typical soccer mommy next to me complaining. I politely tell her it's her fault because she doesn't need that much vehicle for herself and her child.

Then we argue and I pull out my 9 and I'm all like "What now biyatch!!" (gun)

Seriously, I hate paying that much but when I see what others are paying it makes me a little happier considering I'm paying half of what they pay and going twice as far. Maybe one day we'll go back to trucks for what they're meant to be used for. (jerkit) I can't honestly think of anyone I know right now that needs their SUV's. Well maybe one.

i kid you not...i just saw $3.79 per gallon for regular...this is freakin insane!
