hot headers!!!!

I'd say send your headers off to jet-hot. I'm not a mechanic by any means but I think I remember hearing that if a car is running lean it will run hot.


Here is jet-hot header after 50K miles and when it was first coated.

You car must not be running at the correct A/F ratio...Generally lean makes 'em really hot. And how hard are you driving?

Might just be the fact that you got cheap headers from ebay. You might have to look into getting a new one. Lots of people here get the OBX headers, myself includded, and love them. ProtegeGarage always has great deals on their headers and ship very fast.

So then why does BrianMP5T wrap his headers in all of his projects?

Wouldn't the wrap keep the heat in the header and not in the engine bay? Wouldn't that be good?

hmmm...I dont know, guys. I have had my header wrapped for over 4 years and no problems at all. True, Tony at AWR told me he was not sure what would happen over a long peiod of time, but he did not advise against it either. I bet the car is not running the correct air fuel ratio, as mentioned earlier.

True. It can help keep heat out of the engine bay, but it's really hard on the header: http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp Ceramic coatings are applied outside and inside of the tubes.

my guess is a/f ratio.... when i drove the sprint car, the headers would get like that if i leaned out really bad.

the wrap can do some good but more bad, if anything get them coated. like pat said..its inside and out so its REALLY good
