Just bought Apexi AVC-R Boost controller will have installed in next
couple of weeks and was wondering what is the highest I can boost
to without risking damage to my engine. I will run on stock 6 to 7
for daily driving and have a higher setting for the weekends.

Look through some threads. I would say between 9 and 10 psi if you get some colder plugs, but upping the boost always carries the risk of detonation. I would do the supporting mods before going any higher.

Since you are planning to play it safe, I would recommend 9 or 10 psi for safety. I just purchased the AVC-R myself, but I have yet to install it. But take note that, the AVC-R doesn't read in PSI. It reads in KPA or something like that. I was told that .75 on the AVC-R would represent about 9 or 10psi of boost.

I'm not completely too sure if I will ever install mine. I'm debating the sale of it, and then possibly getting the TurboXS manual boost controller. I purchased it because I thought it read in psi, and that would be great for me, because I didn't want to run a boost guage. But I have changed my mind and my decide on getting a few of the Defi D-guages.

Either way, Good luck man..

( sorry to ***** your post )

The nice thing about the Apexi is the learning mode, once you do the learning mode your boost will kick in much faster then stock. Almost right away

Just got my hardpipes done last weeknend and got everything hooked up. Im around 9psi with the occasional spike to 10 on just hardpipes, 92, flash, and a filter to replace big goody airbox

Soo, in learning mode, the boost controller will learn the car's habit or performance. Fill me in Doo.. Thanks...

so 9 or 10 is safe to run...with cooler plugs and fmic and intake?? im getting an exhaust too, but i gotta get money 1st
