Alright so last night on my way home I hit some wet ass leaves and nearly spun out....tires were spinning like crazy and the 4wd light came on for a couple of seconds and went off. Today while Im driving I notice the DSC and Traction Control activating alot when I hit the accelerator. 4WD light also comes on temporarily. So I tested my allwheel drive with a low rpm launch and all I did was spin my front tire threw 1st and well into second gear! Its not supposed to do that. Right? So what the FUNK! Any comments or Ideas anyone!!!!!!!

hmm.. this sounds crazy dude first I have ever heard of that my advice bring it RIGHT to the dealer its basically a brand new car still let them deal with the headache. Good luck keep us posted

Wow! That's a bad impression of "AWD" from Mazda! Man, wtf.

Maybe your rear diff or center diff. How many awd launches have you done? What rpm are you launching at? Are you slipping the clutch?

Definatly take it to the dealer. You should not be able to spin the front tires. The closest I ever get to wheelspin is chirping the rear tires shifting to second gear.

take it to the dealer but they may say mods have something to do with it...
you could try undo the neg. battery cable for 5min. the hook it up again it might reset the ecu. could be a faulty sensor in the rear diff though

Their awd system isn't a full time awd system. It is called Haldex awd. Basically most of the time your car is like a regular fwd car. When your abs/traction control sees slippage it sends a request to the Haldex control unit which then locks in your rear diff for added traction. This system isn't like a Evo, subie, most Audi's which have a full time system. Its like awd on demand. I would go to the dealer and see if any faults did come up. It shouldn't let you spin the tires for that long with out turning the traction control on to stop the loss of traction.

bulls***, I have no idea what mod could cause that s*** to happen, take it to the dealer, have them fix that s***...

I agree, swing that sucker back to the dealership and make use of that warranty!

This is what Automobile magazine had to say about Mazdaspeed 6's AWD:
Full article here -> http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedans/0602_mazdaspeed_6/

All-wheel-drive systems have come a long way from that first Audi Quattro, yet the Mazda's setup still shows evidence of the same philosophy. It begins with a new, compact, twin-shaft gearbox adapted to the transverse engine. This gearbox features a unique, water-cooled power take-off that spins a driveshaft connected to an electronically actuated clutch pack just ahead of the rear wheels. Finally, a torque-sensing, limited-slip differential distributes the power between the rear wheels themselves. The amount of torque that the fast-acting clutch pack transmits to the rear wheels is determined automatically by electronic data input from the steering angle, yaw rate, lateral g forces, and engine performance, and the torque distribution falls into three modes: normal, sport, and snow. The normal calibration distributes most of the torque to the front wheels with some directed to the rear wheels for stability, while the sport mode varies torque distribution front and rear according to acceleration and cornering inputs. The snow mode delivers a more constant distribution to all four wheels for optimum traction.

I have the same issue but am holding off on takign it into the dealer. I don't want them to hold my car for any longer than a week!

Basically, the loose bolts on the dif bracket cause the rear LSD to move around as much as 3" side to side. This casues a broken rear dirver side axle and/or joint. After time, the LSD itself needs to be replaced, or even immediately.

All should be covered under warranty, and he is not the first. This has happend a known number of 7 times, and can happen to anyone else. Check your bolts!!!

Damn I wish it happened to him 2 months earlier!

they can say your voided your warranty... it sounds like bs but some dealers try and pull this. they have to fix it anyways because the only mods that can harm drivetrain is susp. mods, engine brace/mounts. so why dont you try it... they will say it voided the warranty. if your motor blows and you have a dp on there they can say it caused a boost spike and thats what did it so dont sit there like a 12 yr. old and tell me that a mod cant void a warranty. read the fine print when you buy a car.

I relize what you are saying and for them to tell me that I voided my warranty by changing my exhaust is BS. I wont take that s***....I had the money to pay for half of this bitchass car in cash, believe me I have plenty of money for a freakn LAWYER....I called the dealer today and told them what happened. They said no problem bring it in. I wont be taking any s*** from the dealership ladys and gents....BELEIVE THAT! When I first bought the car I would take my foot of the clutch to fast and the car would make this big KLUNK sound and not go anywhere....Now that I know how to drive it...It doesnt happen...And the one time it did it has screwed up the allwheel peel. I guess you could say that was the straw that broke the camels back......! You would think that they would use an allwheel drive system that could handle the amount of torque the engine delivers....guess not huh? What a POS...If they fix it and it happens again Ill never by a Mazda ever again....You dont pay almost 30k for a damn car and have the asshole dealership tell you there voiding the warranty...ILL BE DAMNED. You guys will be hearing about me on the fukn news....Ill get gangester as hell...beat the them to death with my cold air intake.....(sorry just venting)(pissed) (pissed) (pissed) (pissed) (pissed) (pissed) to be continued......................

i didnt know what all mods you have. im just sayin some dealers are asses as you may know. they have said that a strut bar could of caused a problem with the brakes...huh???? what it comes down too is how nice of a dealer you got it from. but your right buying a car at this price should be good for a long time... they covered a fog light 3 days after i got it and didnt say a thing it says in the pack-o-crap the warranty covers down to the lights...lol i could of bought a 4 dollar bulb but why? lol

do you know exactly whats wrong yet?
Not yet....But after driving it today the 4wd dive light doesnt even come on..at all....I can spin the tires so freakn easy...would be cool if it was a front wheel drive car but it aint....even if it was i would never be able to hook up...

i test drove the ms3 it spins easy to me as well but it does hook up after a bit my guess is the limited slip in the fwd. good luck finding out make sure to let us know what the deal was so we know what to look for.

The MS3 is torque limited in first and second gear, that's the only reason it doesn't get horrible wheelspin.
