thats really weird, maybe a problem with the ecu or alternator.......im not a mechanical genius so i cant really help you. but there are plenty of ppl on the forums that can help you, so just be patient.

good luck to ya, hope your car isnt severely ****** up

This has happened a lot lately with the auto P5 and it has happened with people with the auto P5 with sport shift. I also have an auto P5 with sport shift and this has happened to me before at 16,176 miles. I was at a red light also and when I was about to gas my P5 when it turned green the car also shut off. So I completely turned off the car and cranked it back and it started back like normal.

People have taken their cars to the dealership to get the diagnosis, but their was nothing that came up on the screen.

I have a manual 2002 and if I sit for a while with the car running the idle will dip down and almost stall. It will continue to do this about every 5 - 10 mins. Reported it to the dealership and they looked at me like I was a moron. I have heard of this happening to others manual and automatic. Anybody else have this problem.

Disconnect the battery then clean the EGR and hook the battery back up. See if this helps.

The sport autos are known to do that sporatically, but it is probably a loose battery connection. If it is a Panasonic factory battery, replace it. Those are junk.

haha yeah i have one of those panasonic battery.....well i changed my battery today lets hope this doesnt happen again....i guess by reading all the responds its kinda normal....and yess i do have an auto sport shift.

Had a similar problem with a completely different type of car. it was an old (1990) thunderbird supercoupe. It was impossible to duplicate for the guys at the shop.

It would just die at idle, most of the time it would crank right back up, and run as if nothing ever happened.

Once when it didn't start right back up, I went and got a tow truck. The tow driver got in, and started it up when he got there about 45 minutes later. He then looked at me as if I had no sense.

Finally replaced crank and cam sensors and - PRESTO - no more problem.

Don't do motor work any more, so I'm not sure if your car even has these gizmos, but I thought I'd share the idea with you.
